Hey guys I'm reading the Kelsey Hayes disc install tutorial and it just says to run a search on here for an explanation on installing the bearings and all that inside the hub. I've been searching on here but I can't seem to find the information I need on it. Does anyone have a link or set of instructions for this? I'm not sure if it's as simple as just using a punch to knock everything out or if there's something more to it. Would rather have some reassurance before screwing anything up. Thanks!

Mymopar.com they have factory service manuals you can download for free. Everything you need to know is in there

yeah, it's pretty simple. I use a brass punch so as not to ding up any vital surfaces.
Use a good quality grease, I do not use moly grease on rolling bearings. I pack the bearings by hand to make absolutely sure the rollers, and cages are fully filled with grease.
I'm sure if you search on this forum, about adjusting the bearings, you'll get plenty of tips on proper adjustment methods.

Thanks guys I wound up punching them out with a brass punch. Wasn't too bad at all. I'm just that guy who always seems to ruin parts because I didn't know there was some trick or step involved that wasn't total common sense. After doing one of the hubs there isn't much to it. Painting them up and then I can just use my HF press to install the new races.

They make a tool that helps with pressing the races in, it has a tapered piece that fits inside the race so it doesn't get messed up. I've never used a press to install races, they're not that tight of a fit. The correct tool, and a few hammer taps is all it takes.

10 Piece Bearing Race and Seal Driver Set

There's Harbor Freight's version for a reference.

And Auto Zone's website says they loan them out.

Thanks I think I actually have a similar set buried in the garage somewhere. I'll have to look for it when I get home. Should make the installation even quicker.

the "cup" races are a light press fit. I think using an actual hydraulic press might be a little extreme, and might cause more grief if it gets cocked. A hammer might work better because you have better "feel" for what is going on.

I wound up finding a couple washers that were really close in size to the races and just ground the outside of them down a hair to make them slightly smaller. Used them as a driver to install the races. Then just used a small block of wood to hammer the oil seal in. Turned out to be an easy job. Thanks guys.
