I have a 71 swinger and I can't get the back of the hood to line up with the cowl. The doors and the fenders line up good The hood is centered between the fenders the hood just pops up in the back when I close it. Any tricks? Jim

What Murray said. Stiff hinges can lead to a broken hood. If the hinges push out to the sides a whole bunch when you close the hood, they have rust.

Cheap and easy fix to have your hinges restored. Will help save wear and tear on your hood.
Restorations by Rick Kreuziger does hood hinges restore. There are others out there too that also do.
Thats what I was afraid of . I thought maybe a little lube would help it but nope Well time to tear the fenders back off At least I don't have to mess with the doors again Thanks for the reply. jim

Well I got the hinges out .They are very loose on the hinge pins but they are just held on with those push caps One of the pivot pins is sloppy . The other one moves but under heavy spring load Could it be binding because of the slop? Also are the hinges supposed to be that wiggly or should there be spacer bushings to tighten them up? I wish Rick was open today Jim

The bottom pivot pins are a sloppy loose fit and a little grease upon re-assembly is a good idea. The real problem is in the middle where the two arms pass each other. This is where we need some lube. With them apart it would be nice to disassemble them and bead blast them to really clean them. Check the mating surfaces for damage, a little lube, and reasemble.

I lubed them and they're still bending out. I'll just bite the bullet and get then rebuilt
