I’ve seen many discussions on how to remove undercoating from a car. I believe I found the best way. I used 3 cans of heavy duty oven cleaner and a pressure washer. This took me 30 minutes of spraying on the cleaner the evening before and one hour with a pressure washer cleaning it off. I put down a canvas to catch the debris and the act of using the pressure washer neutralizes the cleaner. The first image is before and the rest are the results. It even preserves the ink markers on the sheet panels prior to painting as you will see in the image of the front wheel well.

Let me know any thoughts!

Well, I am impressed...heavy duty oven cleaner did that! Have to give it a try for sure.

That looks too easy, the forth picture down in the first post, that does not look like factory undercoat, maybe some zbart or rustyjones special they did back then.

Would be great to know what brand/type you used. Some work different than others.
The results speak for themselves...

Nice going to try that tomorrow. Where did you find a oven big enough to put it in?

Keep in mind that oven cleaner is basically lye, a caustic chemical that you do not want on your skin, blowing in your face or getting in your eyes.

Funny -- just watched Uncle Tony's video about undercoating removal a few nights ago. :D

Tried so dollar store heavy duty on the parts car. AMAZING!

How did you keep the clean metal from forming surface rust as it dried?
I sprayed the bottom of the car with wd40 while Im doing the rest of the body work. So far it’s working well. I wipe off the WD40 on the area that I’m working and respray when finished. So far no new rust.
