Gas gauge always full (1968 Barracuda)

Finally got around to lifting the car up and followed RedFish’s advice. Disconnected the sender wire at the tank and the gauge stayed at empty with the ignition on.

I’m very happy to not be chasing the issue any further or pulling apart the dash. Now to investigate a new sending unit!

The aftermarket replacement senders are crap. They will show full and empty but anywhere between will be wrong. when gauge shows approx' 1/4 tank, just 7 to 8 gallons fills it up. You could just live with it ( I do ), or you could spend more coin and time to add the meter match module to the sender circuit, or send your OEM sender out for restore.
