I have a couple intakes, a set of bare heads, a distributor & a piece of, what I believe is, kickdown linkage. I think they are from an old 360 I built & put in a Jeep pick-up. Can anyone tell me if they are desirable to anyone or should I put them in the scrap pile? I'll probably have to create 2 posts. 1st intake is casting #3512100 & 2nd one is #3462848. Heads are #2483675. One has a 7 under the casting # the other has a 13. Thanks

SPread bore intake is a 71 340. Probably the best stock intake ever made. The second one is from an earlier 340. 68-70. It's also a good one.

I’ve bought a couple of the 68-69 340 intakes. Paid $100 each. Market not that big for it resto or stock appearing guys Not bad manifold just if you’re buying one, a new aluminum is much light and better performing.

Pics are small so hard to tell for sure but KD looks like 360 2bbl

I thought it was a kick down for a truck . They use a one piece rod and a car uses a 3? piece set up I believe.
70 AAR & T/A 340 Six Pak inc some 440 Six Pak E & B body used one piece KD rods and one piece rods where used in the mid 60's already in cars just depends on the model. If the OP provides larger pics i and many others on this site will have a better idea what it is.

Sorry, but don't know how! I'm technologically challenged. I barely figured how to post any pics! LOL

I need a cast 318 intake which has nothing to do with your delima!! I have heard that intake will fit in a large flat rate box, but there are 2 different size boxes, on will fit I am told. If you decide to ship let me know the details. I would prefer the square bore intake myself but can use either.
I admit it is not a $100 piece to me. Not to mention shipping.
IIRC, If you really need a cast 318 intake, the ports on both of those are going to be big for a 318 head. Some of the 318 guys would know better than I .

The stock OE iron will perform on par with the likes of a Performer or Action Plus, etc....

The RPM or Stealth etc.... will out perform the iron only if the build calls for it.

The difference in power would not be felt. Additionally, the same for the weight between them.

It would show up on the track and I’d get only a 10th or 2 at best. Only you can decide if spending the extra money on your non racing car is worth it.

I agree with tha..t just would pick one up to have if and when I get a 360. Next trip back to Missouri I could get a good 360, no problem. The SB cast OEM spread bore intake (back there) were cheap as dirt and usually used as door stops, unless someone was restored a correct 340 car. Even then not expensive.
I just need to get in an old bone yard with some truck carbureted 360's.

You mean a 360 head and 360 intake?

I agree on a low compression mill. The biggest issues with the 318 are of course small displacement and then low compression.

If your slugs are .”70 in the hole, the. A big 72 cc head chamber will give you a 7.5-1 ratio.... or less.
Getting the piston to a zero deck height with the likes of a KB piston will get you about 8.5-1 and a 65 cc head will only get you about 9-1/9.2-1

Reducing the head chamber to 59cc’s will get you about 9.9-1.

At this point, milling the OE iron that much is more than likely not possible. Use the Edelbrock Magnum head at 58cc’s.

For a mild bump in street performance, the cast OE stuff is OK. Without a piston change, your nit really going to far.

I can use a cast oem 318 intake, and I would buy a 360 intake also to haveas an extra intake for the next 360 build maybe..
