DAR ‘credits’ father with the service, but I believe that was based less on knowledge of him and more due to lack of knowing about the other 2. The father would have been near 60years old. Much more likely that one of the others in their 20’s enlisted.

That's tough. I haven't done that sort of geneaology research. I recall the park librarian/archivist had a couple books he would start with and then try to dig deeper. Some records are with the National Archives, a lot more are with each state, and some stuff is in public libraries and even private hands. Pension claim requests are another form of record - probably not much help for a guy who was 60 in 1776.
