WIW Opinions on a 69 Dart GTS.

-
My 70 Charger ( behind Cuda in avatar) was ordered as an SE with 383 Mag , HD 727 ,HD suspension , 3.23s , Trailer group , 6 way seats , Tictoctach ,A/C etc.... $5000 including tax and he had 68 Dart GT trade in.

Could have had a R/T Hemi for that much.
I knew the original owner but never asked why he ordered it as such.... MPG is my assumption.

You say car still has it's matching 340 and 4 speed. Car doesn't have vinyl top. How do you know? Have you verified these things? Have you SEEN and verified the engine and transmission numbers? What's your proof? The seller's word? YOU came HERE for help, yet you're giving half answers. You have good members who know a TON about these cars trying to help you.

Throw us a bone here. Don't just say "blah blah blah". Tell us how you KNOW "blah blah blah", or you might be fixin to make a big mistake.

vinyl top code should be on the fender tag if it has one

'Swat I'm sayin. Be on the build sheet too, if it's there. ANy seller wouldn't let me at least pop the front of the back seat up and look for the build sheet, wouldn't have a sale. Period.

check the numbers on the radiator, it does not look original to me and the carb is not original. I would start looking for all non original parts. decode the fender tag and find the build sheet. you need to get it on a lift and check how solid the bones are. expect $12k for a #3 car and $19k for a #2 car. consider all options, disc brakes? light group? ash tray, glove box, trunk? fender tag and build sheet will tell. figure in its finished value after you spend all your money. #1car, trailer-ed show car never driven is $27k.

Radiator is original. Just been recored. Non original parts to improve drive ability mean nothing to me. It's the #'s matching motor and trans that mean the most.

Re the comment about "hillbilly things": What is the big hose on the left of the carb? Looks like it has a valve or regulator in the line? What's the "T" in the gas line? Where does the 2nd hose go? There is nothing holding the battery in. Grille is painted wrong. Underhood wiring looks hillbilliy-ish too, a mess. If you're gonna paint a fake GTS stripe at least center it on the marker light! That's just ugly/wrong. If it matters, '69s never came with Rallye wheels. I might pay $12K for it if it runs really good, and actually has no rust.

There were a few more than 100 '67 GTS's made....457 actually...229 4 speeds and 228 autos...and unmolested, they do attract a decent price.

One for sale here in Phoenix

Meant no disrespect to hillbillys

Alright, we’ve played along by providing input and opinion on what we think the car might be worth based on the details you’ve provided. Please return the favour and share with us the asking price of the car or what you paid for it if you’ve pulled the trigger on it by now.

I agree. Only fair. 13k. I think a great deal for a very solid great running car.

@TimS
To put some things to rest post the vin up to the sequencial number. Also check gtsregistry to see if it was ever on there.

I saw a few gts on line for that amount. Assuming the added modern electronics were added without butchering the wiring harness all that can go back to stock.

What are your plans for the car? Keeper, investment, flipper?

Keeper - what does the price matter
Investment - roll the dice, 65 mustangs used to command a fortune for beatup ones, today not so much.
Flipper - buy low sell high (caveat emptor)

that my friend may be a good price for that car, hard to tell by pictures.
is it now yours, did you pull the trigger?

It's not on the GTS registry. LS23P9B is the front of VIN.

It's a keeper/investment. I always look for #'s matching cars to work on/restore/enjoy. Also these days something I've never worked on in my 40 plus years of Mopars. Never had a Dart.

On my way to check it out soon. Seller is on vacation for a few weeks. As you said, I have also only seen pictures of it so if I don't buy it I will pass the info on for the seller here on A Bodies. He has a lift so I plan to go over it thoroughly. The tons of pictures seller sent gets me there. Unless the paint is way worse than it looks, I'm buying. I'm pretty confident with the rest of the car including the #'s on the tranny and motor he sent pictures of. My plan is to get the after market stuff off and get it back to original as possible. Have to repaint the car to fix that offset, incorrect stripe.

Thanks everyone for your input.

Good luck! Hope it's a good one.
