I'm at the point of trying to get an exhaust system for the shop car - keyword: inexpensive! we are out of money!

Car: 65 Barracuda w/Rebuilt 318 +.020, Summit 6901 cam, Eddy 1406 and performer intake. 904 / 8.750-3.91SG
Staying with the OEM 273 V8 manifolds. Just a street car, built from what we could find. Not a race car. Just looking for weekend fun and some good noise!

I'm thinking of running 2" (OD) front to rear as true duals (no X or H pipe) with cherry bomb glass-packs. Trans cross member modified for duals.

Questions:

1) What is the ID of the stock manifold outlets?
2) Should I run 2" or the stock size? (I assume 1 7/8 is stock)
3) What is the bolt pattern? and where can I buy GOOD thick flanges (muffle shop said to get them first)
4) Muffler shop said "~$400" to fab and install pipes using my glass packs. sound about right for east coast prices?
5) Any cheaper way to go??? what are the chances of finding a good used system?

Pics of what we're working with:

That's pretty expensive, over here in CA get the whole job done for 180-200, if you don't have power steering use the 73 340 driver side and a Dakota passenger. That's if you want to, you could just run those stockers also

why is the T-bar crossmember modded with a 904 ??

@66jim If you have a part to sell send the original poster a personal message please. Thanks

Probably not a bad idea to look up TTI's dual system for these cars. They might have the pipe sizes and a basic diagram of the pipes.

Well no photos. Your best bet would be a muffler shop.

I’m running dual 2 inch all the way back from manifolds on my 65 dart 273. I fabbed the crossmember up to make it work pretty easy. I think 400$ is reasonable

I believe the largest diameter pipe that will fit and not hit the torsion bar or the frame is 2 1/4”, that’s what I have on my car. And my exhaust guy squawked about the minimal clearance to get pipes through. He also made be a bell flange where it turns to head out back, so I could take the system apart in pieces, for access to the trans and such!

I spoke to Mike at tti and they did my exhaust. 2.5” x pipe on my 66’ with factory manifolds. It’s tight. Had to cut a section out of the pipe and weld a plate in just for it to clear the torsion bar. Honestly with an 1-3/4” outlet- nothing larger than 2” with those manifolds.

I have a 3 inch single all the way back, it fits but takes a good exhaust shop... sounds wicked.
