Ulf. Where did you buy this car? Or have you posted that information already on this thread. Yes, I seem to find them, but nothing like you have come up with. Great find. Jerry
I found it here on FABO!! I have known this nice owner quite a while. So when he asked me to clear some misunderstanding we closed a deal. Funny thing this has has the VIN number after my convertible! Small world!! It was in Arizona when I bought it.
Today I recieved the new replacement thermostat housing just for 273 a/c equipped cars. Quite a difference!

Looks like a brand new thermostat housing! I knew they were available new - just couldn’t remember where I saw them!

Today I did some work before the first test drive. Changing the front fuel line hose to the fuel pump. Seems like Chrysler at the Los Angeles plant used Gates as a supplier of fuel hoses.

Don. My A.C. Thermostat housing should be replaced. Do you remember who the supplier was? thanks. sgrip65

Ulf. "Around the barn." A race track built? Those Cragars look pretty nice still. Are they the OEM Charger Cragars? So, up and running after all of these years, or did you install a different engine? Nice looking project to start. sgrip65
That is factory Cragar S/S wheels made in 1964. I do t have the Dartcharger center caps but searching. The cra drove good considering been off road for lots and lots of years.

Here is an add from October of 1964 with all the dealers in southern California who sold 1965 Dart Chargers or Dart Charger 273 as they called them!

Ulf. Indeed a great price at $2074.00, but, back in that day, a carpenter, which I was, was paid around a $1.80 per hour. On that, they had to live and support a family. $2074.00. then, was a bunch of cash to pay for a car. Just some food for thought. Today, it would be a great buy at that price. We get big eyes when we see those prices, and we can wish. Great looking cars then, and still today. I looked up what a 'Cuda would cost in '73, and it was between $3,000.00 to $4,000.00 nicely equipped. I mentioned to 65 Dartman that my sister traded a 68 Dodge Charger RT in on a new '73 Chevy Vega, and she paid money taboot. Those were the days, and I lived through them. It all changed back in '72 when the OPEC nations put in place the oil embargo, and again, in '78...these actions raised the price of fuel. I think insurance rates played a part in the demise of the muscle car era as well. Back in the early '70's, there were GTO's, Chargers, Challengers, Mustangs, Camero's and etc sitting on the used car lots for sale....with no buyers. How many of those were crushed? Sad. Thanks for the great post. What would it take to get a copy of the ad? Thanks. sgrip65

I'll get one for you Jerry.

Not sure if I should post this yet, ULF and I have been in negotiations on His 65 Charger and the convertible 65 charger, when the convertible is fully restored, they will be bought by myself here in Georgia, I have also contacted some local construction people( in-laws) to Construct two rotating pedestals in front of My gas station/quickie lube/bar-b-que place here in Social Circle Georgia for all to enjoy. negotiations were brutal until I threw in my 65 Dart slant 6 converted to a 360 as "boot". In all honesty, all this in contingent in my having all 6 Mega Millions numbers the Tuesday, I'm very confident though.

Just got back after a 10 mile trip after re-fueling at the nearest gas station. No problems. However, I needed to change the speedometer last night. It was totally stuck so I added a new one from a Dart 270 that I parted out last year. It gave me a speedometer in km/h instead!

Ulf. So the second one worked for you. Did the new speedometer show less miles....makes the car worth more!!!! Easier to change these out than the new electronic units, but still a job to do it. Continue to follow your build....I will. Great cars these 65 Darts. Thanks for the post. sgrip65

Ulf. On the AC thermostat housing, the one under the hose connection is not the easiest to get a bolt into. It even takes a shorter bolt.....does it not? I just installed mine on my 273, and it was a bit of trying to figure it out. Best to you. sgrip65

The factory one was tricky but the repop had an oval hole which made it easier to add the bolt there.

Now the car has the state inspection approval until 2099! Today I got a correct but used exhaust system for the car.
It's getting there!

Is that a correct year? Or a misprint?
Hehe that is the correct year Don! We have a law here in Sweden that if you have a car 50 years and older and it passes the state inspection it's ok until 2099. Reason is that there are no marks and owners take care of them.

OK! Here in VA an antique auto is considered to be 25 or more years old. if you use the Virginia antique plates or year of Manufacture plates, you are not required to get it inspected. There are supposed to be restrictions on how much, when and where you can drive your antique. If you use YOM plates and get it inspected, then you can use it every day. It would then be considered the same as regular plates.
