Pinion Gear Chipped - is it ok to run?

I didn't feel it when turning.
Never installed, can't find chip.
Contacted seller immediately, still north.

How can the ring and pinion both be garbage?

This is a new one for me, no idea how it was damaged.

if they were ran before they are a wore in for only each other they can't be mixed matched . that is a better pic .I would run it without concern .
