So I had my car in the shop today to get it tuned by people who do it for a living. When I took it in i told them right off it’s not a race car and I’m not hunting for max hp I just would like it to be dialed in and running great when I get it back. So it runs sweet and I don’t plan on taking it down any strip anytime soon. He didn’t mess with the timing at all just did some jetting and adjusted pump shot cam and it pulled 509 hp and 488.something torque at the wheels. I wasn’t expecting huge numbers as It’s only running 5lbs of boost and 15 initial timing. So all and all was putting a 6-71 on it really worth it to me? Hell yeah that thing looks sweet. So what I’ve learned over the years of reading on forabodies only is being supercharged has an up side and a down side. Upside you can always find more hp, and down side u can always find more power and hope u don’t find that weak link. So I am going to stop we’re I’m at and be totally happy with what I’ve got.

Yes pics please!

Cast or forged?

Cam?

I would love to know more as I'm building a small block 6-71.

Ditto on the pics. Man nothing like the sound of blower surge zoom zoom oh ya pics

It’s a 318 reman block 40 over with a scat 4” rotating assembly with 23cc forged dished pistons, rhs heads, xe284 comp, Hugh rockers, dougs headers 21/2 exhaust, dyers 6-71, 2-750 dp Holly’s, 4-speed, Dana 60 with 4:10 gears.

I hear ya.

I'm not expecting crazy power out of mine. The reason I spent all the money on my 6-71 is because that what i wanted. I could ha e gone twin turbo for less and make more HP but in my mind that's just not nearly as cool.

I want cool and a 6-71 is as cool as it gets!
I even went with the 1/2 in pitch over the 8mm because I hear they make more noise.
Call me shallow but it's my car and I can do with it as I please.

Great looking car! I cant wait to see mi e like that!

For now I will settle for this...

Wow 500hp with a 318? I'm impressed.
I have ever intentions of doing a turbo 318 magnum. But but between you and cope yall got me wanting a 6-71!

Kinda makes me wish i kept my 318!
I love 318s I had planned on building one for my dart but the money was gonna be the same to build a 360 so I went with it instead. I have a 84 318 la that I'm saving for my next project. I want to do a square body short bed pickup.
And I want to do a 94+ turbo magnum pickup

I can imagine that chrome air scoop stickin out of the hood. Rockin!

I agree a blower sticking out of your hood is the definition of cool. I know turbos and pro chargers can make awesome power but I’m not into spending a bunch of time and money fixing and re-buying the stuff I already bought after breaking it at the track.

My engine builder is a realy good friend and a dealer for NRE turbos. He built my current engine and it makes wicked power.

He is kinda not a fan of the roots style supercharger but I told him. "I dont care if it makes less power that my current engine. It what I've always wanted. I buy the parts, you figure it out and make it bad ***. That's your job."

:icon_fU: :)

It's strange because Dyers is super conservative on the amount of boost they recomend but will lean more towards a wicked cam than BDS or other companies.

I plan on at least 10 pounds of boost and maybe even more if I get stupid.:steering:

A better hobby may be lighting cash on fire but I dont care. I got one shot to build the car I always wanted before I get married and I'm dam sure taking it.

1,500 for a stupid ring? That's crazy...

4,500 on a 6-71, sweet heres my credit card number.

Dose she get hot?

What radiator, thermostat or plate?

What fan?

I'm sure if your not tubbed, it's more than enough to destroy the rubber at will.

Your right dyers asks what boost you plan on running but depending on your motors breath ability you may end up with a little more or a little less. My pulleys were ordered for 8lbs of boost but I got 5lbs. But 5lbs of boost on my dart is more than enough for what I do with it.
