I am finally................FINALLY................building my engine. The bottom end is just about done, heads and accessories coming soon. I got a windage tray for it but I can't find my photo of which way it is installed. I have two photos of its possible orientation, I think it goes as shown in photo one with the larger side cut-out for the oil pump pickup. Can someone confirm which way this goes please?

Doesn’t the oil pump pickup set which way it faces? The notch lines up only one way and the drain flaps (cut tabs) go toward oil being flung from the crank counter weights.

That's not the right tray for your engine. It's the right one for mine. Send it on.

But yes, like Syleng said, if you look at where the pickup screws into the block, whichever way whichever one of the slots fits best over that is the correct way.

I'm sending you a PM, btw.

I believe it mounts in the correct orientation in Pic #2. Crank turns clockwise (facing the timing gear end), and that would be correct for the 'flaps' to work efficiently.

Yes photo 2 is correct, there are cutouts on both sides, so don’t go by that. The statement above that you want the flaps positioned so the oil flings off the crank weights and towards - through the flaps is correct.
Also note, I hade to add clearance to my tray for the oil pick up tube.

Ha-Ha, big guy. It's only the second one I've seen in three years of looking, I'm going to be stingy and keep it for myself. :D

Many Thanks! I could have figured this out by the direction of the flaps if my head were screwed on right, which it generally is not.
