Another update: MSD tech email hasn't responded in 3 days. Tried to just hardwire the ignition box, so I could isolate it from the car's wiring. No difference. Unmounted the box, then set it on a folded up shop towel to insulate it from the car, it runs fine. If you try to screw it in, before it gets close to tight, the car dies, haven't gotten more than 2 screws into it.
The current plan is to call MSD on Monday and trying to get an advance replacement, or at least a replacement.
