That terminal is a ground connector and has no function related to the headlight switch. As said above, it can be used to provide another ground for the dash lights and gauges.
Okay thanks you reply so it's just kind of optional at this point? I'm not the one that disconnected it so it always adds to the challenge of figuring it back out.. thanks again
