1970 was the first year of the A-230, so for a floor shift you need 1970 up rods & levers. Yep I think you are right.
The A-230 R-1 rod is the same as an A-body 4-speed 1-2 rod & the A-230 2-3 rod is the same as an A-body 4-speed 3-4 rod. (at least from 1970 up)
