Stop in for a cup of coffee

Oh I trust you all. It’s convincing the wife that it’s too much for a kid. I’ve taken my daughter 3 times to the Nats in Ohio, with no issues. She thinks I need to be fair and take my son to this one.
The Nats are nothing compared to this.

I know. Nothing...
Its huge!
3000 cars.
How many vendor spots?
April event has 8,100 spots for vendors.
My god,how do you see it all?
Sounds like a trip of a lifetime for me.

Saw the son of the guy that had the parts car.
Its still up in the air,his mother wants to have a family discussion over the car. I can understand that. But i really would like some idea,so i can move forward. I have money set aside for it,and if i keep buying odds and ends i wont need it anymore.

It can’t be that much bigger can it?
Chris. Whether you bring the kid or not, be prepared.
Find the event you're comparing it to and pull up the site map.
Then go check over the Carlisle site maps.
They're here:

That will give you some idea of scale.
Then decide what you want to do.
I never liked Englishtown, but I learned it was important to have a plan. If I was going for parts, then I had a plan of how to methodically look for the items on my list. And looking meant asking when it made sense, and noit asking when it didn't. If I was going to run the car, that was a part of the plan. Was I going to look at the show cars, if so jut a quick peruse or was there something specific?
Carlisle is much bigger. The only time I've gone I hardly looked at swap meet or look at the general show. That's not why I was there. So that made an easy day compared to one where I tried to cover a lot of ground and do a lot of things.

Point is do your recon. Take in the intel, decide what your goals are and make a plan so you don't have a cranky kid.

Is it just me, or does the finish on that car keep getting progressively better? :)
Slowly using a little elbow grease. A little bit at a time. I have to do it a little at a time because to be totally honest that type of stuff bores me. I’d rather be turning a wrench. Improving performance in someway.

The In-N-Out t-shirt I got for the brat when she was drivin' the Dart to High School :D

All valid points. I’m mainly going to meet up with the coffee crew and maybe walk thru some of the swap meet. Maybe catch a few of the rarer cars in the 100 point area. Other that, just going for the journey.

Man, I can see a lot of small farms going up for sale this fall. Planting season is pretty much over here and only 37 percent statewide crops are in per today’s email from our county AG agent. Not good

When you put it like that I would almost say it could work with a kid. Almost... But, How long do you plan to be at the show. It's a long couple days to 'just hang out' Not saying it couldn't work. Just that the odds aint in your favor. Most kids will turn into miserable little animals in that heat and not much for them to do after just a few hours. The cool cars thing wears thin after looking at a couple hundred in 90+ heat. My daughter really wanted to go several years ago as a teen. She was ready to pass out in the heat and went to hang out in the womans oasis tent for a while and I went to look at parts.. You won't have the option of leaving the kid on his own while you go elsewhere.

I can only be there 1 day. Most of the day Friday, going to spend the night Friday night, head back home Saturday. I have to report to my unit Sunday as they only approved 1 day of split train.

I’m crazy, but not that crazy.

Chris, do what want...clearly you don’t care to listen to experienced people and keep trying to justify what you want to do.

Ok, find out the hard way if that is what you choose.

Funny, I always though military professionals respected deep experience and advance intel before going into an unknown situation...

I guess I was wrong.

I wont waste any more effort on further comment.

Who said I’m not listening? I never said I wasn’t. I’m simply discussing it with my wife. She gets a say. And yes, I will show her what you all said.

If you just look at it like you are doing a drive by, scouting it for a future trip, I suppose... But I can't see driving all that way and barely scratching the surface of what is there. I have done plenty of one day visits there and you can cover a lot of ground in a day, but if you want to catch anything in particular put a time on it and go cause the day will be over before you know it.
The day of the first time visitor is something like... Just inside the gate you will express (to yourself -or maybe out loud) "Holy F'k this place is big!". And you begin to hurry down the row so you can cover it all. But you really don't understand till you have been there a few hours and have only covered a few aisles, that you have no chance of seeing it all. And your brain scrambles and starts to re-assess what is most important to see... And you run and you run to catch up with the sun, but its sinking...lol
