Would an MAD 8388 ready to run distributor be any advantage over an HEI converted factory electronic distributor? This will be for my bone stock 87 ramcharger. I have a brand new mad sitting there for another motor. I've been running the HEI now for 4 years with no problems. Curious if it would get me any better milage over the HEI.

The HEI is as good or better then MSD.

Run the HEI. It has the advance curve you need, it has less parts to ware out and you can go to any parts store and get cap, rotor, HEI module, or what ever you might need should something ware out. Plus any part you need is cheap!

Thanks! I think I'll just leave well enough alone then. Maybe I'll sell the MSD distributor.

I agree. All good points.
The curve is the most important thing.

Other than structural advantage, i.e. Billet and ball bearings, the MSD , unless set up differently, will not yield better economy.
