My uncle lived in Indiana. He had a body shop and built custom cars back in the 50’s through 70’s. Because of him, I knew right off what you were talking about.

I think he got an answer. I remember Uncle Bob calling them dog houses back when I was a little kid. Maybe that was an Indiana thing.
I only ever heard the term doghouse used in reference to the engine cover on an old-school style van. Though, being in the racers forum and comparing a Dart and a Scamp and the body lines, It didn't take an over abundance of cranial activity to figure out what he meant.
I had a feeling you were talking about the front clip but the oppurtunity to have fun was just too irresistable.
I have 4.10 gears in my pumpkin (there's another one for ya folks!). Also running a 408, 6.5's-6.6's in the 1/8 currently, should be in the 6.4's when fall rolls around. I race mainly at Lucas Oil Raceway.

I've lived in Wisconsin my whole life, and as has been stated before, I've only heard 'doghouse' refer to a van/rv engine cover. Front sheet metal from firewall forward was always referred to as a 'front clip'.
This thread has enlightened me to the fact some call a 'front clip' to me a 'doghouse'. Noted for future use.
That said, I'm a bit.. disappointed? that nobody ever really answered OP's question. I understood what he meant from the context of his question. I know if I was new here, and got the responses he did, I'd never come back here and ask another question.

No one's following you around your freaking everywhere! sometimes I'll look at recent posts and you've been commented on 7 out of 10 of them, where in the hell am I supposed to go?
