Hi all. I just finished a 5.9 Magnum swap in my 72 Dart. The car still has its original A904. I’d really like to start planning a manual trans swap but I have no idea what to go with? I’ve spent an aweful pile of cash on the crate motor and would like to try and setup a manual tranny as cost effective as possible. Looking for ideas and what you have all gone with in your rides? Any input would be helpful. Thanks in advance. The car currently has an 8.75 Suregrip 3:23.

A smart man would stay with the 904 & rebuild that stronger. Saves you time & money looking for all the linkage parts.

You're 1/2 home already then. They have good shift kits for A904.

The 904 works good still but I’ve had it in the car for 24 years. I’ve always wanted a manual.

That is a nice looking car.
Manual trans swap and CHEAP are usually not spoken in the same breath! People get lucky sometimes though. It helps to stumble upon a complete car so you can not only get every little bracket, rod and clip BUT to take them off so you know right where they belong on your own car.
If you want an overdrive.... There are 5 speed swaps that come with everything needed including a hydraulic clutch setup. Silver Sport Overdrives recently developed a cheaper, lighter duty 5 speed swap using a Borg Warner based T-5 5 speed, a transmission very similar to what was used in the 5.0 Mustangs, Z28s and Trans Ams of the 80s and early 90s. While this is not a bulletproof transmission, it will hold up to a lot of abuse if you are not drag racing with slicks.
Good luck. I'm thinking about a Tremec 5 speed for my car....and I never thought I'd stray from an automatic!

Yeah I didn’t say cheap but affordable. Nothing comes cheap that’s for sure. I went the cheaper route for years and ended up paying in the long run. The car is in a good place right now and I’m not doing anything half *** anymore. The new crate engine works amazing and makes me want to drive it again. Just looking for what people are using to get a feel for what experiences people are having. Thanks for your reply. I’ll add this to my document FILE.

Sorry I have to disagree manual transmissions are way funner! And they can be just as strong if not stronger.
I have done alot of research on t5 swaps a t56 would be awesome but that's big money.

Beautiful car btw! I love the color! That looks similar to what I'm going with. Fk5, burnt orange.
What color is your?

It's KLB Copperhead Pearl ( Dodge Colour ). It used to be Yellow but it was time for a change. Thanks for the compliments. I've had the car a long time and plan on keeping it as long as I can.......
