ok 72bluNblu, everything makes sense now. that will explain the 5 on 4.5 bolt pattern up front. I did get new axles for the rear to match front a couple years ago. next question is I probably will have to get lower ball joints for a 73 A Body

Correct, you'd want 73+ A-body disk lower ball joints.

You also need A-body lower control arms. The E-body lower control arms are shorter than A-body LCA's, and that will change your suspension geometry for the worse. They also use different pivot pins, so they're not a straight bolt on without changing the pins anyway.
