Manual steering

I run a 16:1 manual box on my Duster, which is also my daily driver. It also has 275/35/18 tires up front and +6.5* of caster, both of which have a significant effect on increasing the steering effort. A narrower front tire and less aggressive caster setting would be more common and provide an easier steering effort than what I’ve got. I still don’t have any issues driving the car, and it sees plenty of parking lots and slow speed driving just like any real daily. Yes, the steering effort below about 10mph is heavy, but it’s not unmanageable (at least for me). And at anything over 25mph it’s a piece of cake and very responsive.

Full disclosure, my 16:1 box is from Flaming River, so I don’t have one of the PST boxes specifically. But the ratio is the same and that’s what determines steering effort and response.
