Who cares about the Honda Civic? I've driven my Duster with a stock 318 for 22 years and never raced anyone. I have a blast driving and working on it and drive it everyday in the summer. People who obsess about speed end up parking their overbuild cars in the garage and drive their Civic to work every day because they can't afford the gas, tickets, tires, broken gears, hospital bills, etc...

Exactly!!!

I put 70k miles on my '72 Challenger with a mild 318 in it, pretty much stock except for an intake, 4 barrel carb and headers. With a set of 3.23's out pack it was plenty fun, and I drove it year round without any issues at all. Now, my Duster with it's ~400 hp 340 is a lot faster, but it's also been a ton more work and money to get it there and have it be a reliable daily driver too.

I personally prefer classic steel wheels or ralllies, but I also like magnum 500s and cragars
If you absolutely have to go with 17s my vote goes to the cragers for 15s probably a tie between steelies and rallies!

Everyone has their preference. I'd rather have tires that perform half decent than 15's, because all the tires for those are either hockey pucks, drag radials, or track only. And no one "absolutely has to" go with 17's, but it sounds like that's what the OP wants to do so why not post something useful for him instead of trying to convince him to do what you like instead?
