can anyone advise me as to which pertronix conversion kit for my 70 340 swinger dual point dist.seems to be alot of confusion with these kits. thanks jim

should be 1383 Call them to verify it though have had some fit issues with some distribs.

Make sure you get the correct coil for the pertronix module you buy. If not it will kill the module.

I went through the Pertronix fiasco about two years ago when trying to buy one for my 69 340 Prestolite dual point distributor. First one I bought did not fit so next I called their tech line and they gave me the "correct" model number for my application. I ordered that model that they advised me to and low and behold, that one also did not fit. I called them back and they said that I will need to modify it some to make it fit. I told them "no way" so I ended up returning that one also.
Since then I have been still running the factory dual points with good results.

A friend last year bought the model 1385LS and installed it in a 68 Prestolite dual point and it worked great for him. That model comes with a breaker plate with the ignitor already attached to it. The two models that I tried required you to mount the ignitor to the factory breaker plate. In both cases the mounting holes in the ignitor did not align up with the threaded holes in the factory breaker plate.

Sell your dual point and get a complete mopar electronic conversation kit. Distributor, coil, module and harness all from one supplier. Just watch out for the cheap crap coming out of china.
I use the FBO components, Don is a forum member and a great guy, his stuff runs great.
Good luck

I do have to say he is the way to go on them. I do a ton of dual points and personally unless you drive the car over 10k a year points are usually fine if they are older nors/nos

Trying to keep it original but update to electronic? I had to send mine in and they found one to fit. They will install them for you as well.

IT WAS A 9 YEAR CONCOURS RESTORATION.I WANT TO KEEP IT ORIGINAL AND THE PERTRONIX IS MORE RELIABLE.I HAVE INSTALLED THESE ON FRIENDS AND CUSTOMERS CARS NEVER HAD A FAILURE.WITH IT I CAN KEEP MY ORIGINAL DIST.

I stored the dual point and bought an old single point to put the pertronic in. Runs great.

what i found out was the condenser crapped out.i remember over 40 years ago always having to mess with the points thats all there was back then.

Now I'm wondering.... It looks like the Pertronix 1383 or the Pertronix 1385LS can be used in the Prestolite dual point small block distributor? Is there any advantage of one over the other?
One mounts to the existing breaker plate. The other one comes with its own breaker plate...

1385LS
