Stop in for a cup of coffee

I'm officially on the government payroll. Just signed up for Social Security. Actually it's not their money but they issue the checks. LOL

Get it while they still have it and I'm still alive.
Good point. Wife and financial planner think I'm crazy but I'm planning my retirement around Social Security not being there. If it is, great, if it isn't, I should be just fine.

I've been doing the same thing.. Its an added bonus if it is. I should really find a financial planner to help out
I've talked to 3 different ones. Same old speech, they take what I can "expect" to get from SS at 65, subtract it from my current monthly income(gross) and take the difference, and tell me to save X percent in a 401k or stock market. I throw out the SS number and then do the math from there. Plus, I do not figure in any company matches, which my company matches dollar per dollar up to 10% with 100% vested day 1 on employment.

Agreed. Selling out and retiring didn't net as much as I thought. Not a bad nest egg but it won't last forever. The SS will be cash flow for me. The wife is 6 years younger so she will probably work those years and more.

Well if life doesnt take me sailing around the world, then I plan on retiring no later than the age of 62. So Im figuring Im on my own until the age of 65 when I will start drawing.

Dana said she wants to retire when I do. Problem is she is 9 years younger. I just dont see that happening however she has a pretty damn good retirement already, and she did some investing when she was younger so she might be able to.

I'm trying to buy my own private island.
