inner fender well weight

Well, ive seen some stock suspension drag cars cut them out, only to replace them with J bars from the cage to the front of the frame, with a connector to the top of the shock tower. Nice setup, I just wonder what the weigh savings are, if any.
 
inner deletes to J-bars are not for weight savings, more so to fit crazy exhaust or run coil overs and have a top coil mount. But since you asked....I just happen to have a set of inners sent to me and they weigh ~12 lbs a side. I bet the J-bar weighs more than 12 lbs.

J bars to tie to a roll cage and stiffen it up for drag racing isnt for weight reduction, its to stiffen up the front end, and open it up for ease of maintenance on a drag car.

If the cage is moly than you’ll save 10-14 lbs. the undercoating is heavy too. But to be honest it’s done more for access. Least IMO.
