Almost bought a super cool 67 Rebel wagon before I found my Satellite.

Factory 258 four speed on the floor with AC.

Well ****!!

I was going to get a 4 door rebel with a 232 six cylinder. Complete and decent car, just had been sitting for 30 years. It was going to get it for a C note.

When I got there, the old lady said her old husband didn't know someone was coming for it and he called the scrapper. The scrapper got it before I got there.

Damn it

I have had a 64 Rambler American, 69 AMX, and currently have two Ambasador Brougham station wagons, a 71 360 AND A 72 401...

My best bud’s dad in middle school & high school worked at AMC HQ so I remember a lot of cars they had like a ‘71 Ambassador wagon & a Hornet hatchback with a 360 which I thought was kinda neat. I never saw too many of the AMC muscle cars but did like most of there cars & trucks & Jeeps.

A guy at my storage is storing a loaded Ambassador DPL- 343, buckets and console and PW.

There was a 258 3 on the floor Gremlin on CL last year for 12 hundred bucks.

I was very tempted.

There is currently a Hornet AMX 304 IIRC also cheap

Bummer, sounds like some of my luck . .dammit ray !
There used to be 'back in the day". an AMX that came down from Kansas, was a superstock car, was supposed to be a 390. That thing pulled mopar wheelies ,and did it on 10" slicks , was pretty darn fast . The AMX had a very good weight transfer .

There was a local guy at the track when I was younger, he ran an AMX every weekend, it was a stick shift car, it was so cool to watch him pull the wheels off the ground in the first three shifts.
That car loved to be airborne.

Sandy Cone 401 Jeepster Commando. One of just a few 4x4 desert racers that ever impressed me when I was doin' that stuff. Randall AMC was one of the first dealers to venture into stuffing a V-8 into a Gremlin before it became a factory option.

Love them amcs!! Have a few. The white one I ended up putting a mopar engine in it. The red one which actually I just sold it was all original and the 71 javelin is all stock with the original 360. That one is my current project. I do miss my red one tho even tho it was patty wagon slow but was a nice cruiser

I’d run a gremlin or even a pacer.
Back in school a classmate put a 401 in a pacer.
My sister had a gremlin, was a fun car to drive, even with the 6 cyl.

I am a big fan of Javelins and AMXs. However, they can be a bit expensive to restore.

My Jeep probably doesn't count, it's got the AMC 4.0L straight-6 but by 1993 they were pretty Chrysler-ized (engine controls, small parts). A lot of XJ Jeep guys claim the pre-1991 models are the best because they were still full AMC but that dang Renix EFI setup is horrible unless it's working perfectly. Also didn't get the full HO treatment until 1991.

I like how Chrysler at least didn't try to change them over to using Chrysler V-6/I-4 engines and transmissions throughout their production. They knew the 4.0 was a keeper, and boy do I love mine... 250k+ miles and still runs like a top. I just wish it had a liiittle bit more HP in the higher revs for driving on the freeway, I will be doing a full stroker build with a decent cam, header (and maybe ported head) at some point though.

I also want a '60s Rambler to swap a built 4.0L and AX-15 5-speed manual into, that would be fun as hell.

I have a co-worker with a clean Spirit, but engine swapped.

77 Hornet AMX 304

Looks like 4 speed and AC

Edit: maybe that's just a floor shift with no console

Looks like original wheels

$3000

other than the stick-on scoop, looks pretty nice.

One of my best friends in HS traded his 72 nova for a 78 CJ-7 304 4 speed almost exactly like this one.

Levi's edition with the nearly waterproof seat fabric.
(Levi's badge above the "jeep" stamp)

The only mod was one size larger tires.
(like this pic)

We had all sorts of fun in that thing.
Trail riding and hill climbing in the spring and summer, and pulling people out in the winter.

I bought this one my first year in college from a local jeep dealership all stock 6cyl 4 speed, I added the lift and 38" tires, soon went up to 40" tires, mudded the hell out of that jeep, the body got rusty, I wore the 6cyl out, had to bore it .040 over just to clean the cylinders, it was alot of fun.
in one month I broke 7 rear ends in the old beast, I had had enough sold it.
The rear dana 20's would spin the hubs off the two piece axles, everybody said put a dana 44 out of an earlier jeep, they are stronger, BS, then I started breaking spider gears, way easier to change axles, I acutually carried and extra axles with me, every time I went out, and would change them on the trail, spiders were a pain, basically remove rear drive shaft and drive home on the front end.
To do it all over again, I should had just put the one piece axles in the dana 20.
