Trick Flow small block heads

Well....... now I’m confused.

You understand that on that day, at that location........ there is going to be in the neighborhood of a 23% correction factor....... right?
That’s nothing peculiar to that dyno...... it’s strictly the air density and temp for that location, on that day..... compared to a “standard” day(29.92” baro, 60*, zero humidity).
So, is that 549hp after the 23%(+/-) correction, or uncorrected?
Because 510 uncorrected....... corrected to 549 doesn’t make any sense at all(for that location on that day).

673hp is roughly a 23% correction from 549hp....... so if that’s what is getting spit out by the computer....... well...... like I said earlier........ I’m pretty sure if the motor was brought to a legit dyno much closer to sea level....... you’re not going to see uncorrected numbers anywhere close to within 3-5% of 675hp(640-655hp).

I just looked at that screen again....... there is an option for “weather station” or “enter weather info manually”.

Which was being used that day?

Was it correct?

Any way to look at what the weather data was for one of the pulls?(most dyno software will store the weather data used for the pull)

Sorry if this is already widely known and understood....... but in case some viewing aren’t in the know.......

The correction factor is used to estimate what the engine power would be in weather that is considered “standard”.
What that standard is, is different for different SAE specifications.
Most of the “standard corrected data”, or STP(standard temp and pressure) numbers you see posted by guys having their engines tested are for the J607 spec....... which is 29.92” baro, 60*, zero humidity.
What that means is........ if you were testing the motor in those weather conditions....... the correction factor would be zero.
The corrected and uncorrected numbers would be the same.

As the air density decreases, so does the power.
At 5000’ the air density is way less than sea level...... so the motor will make way less power.
To the tune of 20-25% less.

Although I am an innocent bystander in this conversion, I would like to direct your attention back to post 342

I guarantee that the 546hp number is corrected, and the ACTUAL horse power was considerably less...using your 23% number, that would be ~ 420hp (I had originally guessed optimistically for the OP).

Look at the parts used, the head flow, the compression, the cam....it adds up to a low to mid 500 hp motor AT SEA LEVEL......Just saying.

Happy 4th everyone. :-D

Weather station is being used not manual. Those are the numbers that were recorded by the weather station at the time of the pull. And it shows the adjustment for baro so its being corrected is my understanding.

Here are some pic when I was still engineering them.

Gotta love how everyone turns into armchair engineers and master engine builders when a new product finally makes it on the street... Everyone asks for pics, then everyone asks for a dyno sheet, then everyone nitpicks the **** out of the dyno and says "BS take it to the track", then it gets taken to the track and everyone says "on what tire? what ratio? sea level?, track temp? Did you **** before your run?" etc... It'll never be enough to please everyone...

I've seen it so many times on so many boards.

Big thanks to all the guys who have taken the leap to buy these and report back on THEIR findings (especially the member here in Colorado!). I'm pleased with what I've seen so far (in my opinion these are a far better investment than Edelbrock) and I'll be buying a set myself to slap onto my 408 during its next tear down.

Cheers to all!

Armchair Engineers... LOL, I like that....

No one is arm chairing anything. Guys are looking at dyno numbers and discussing what they see.

The numbers need to add up.

Is there any way we could see what the printed dyno sheet would look like?

Not the graph of the tq/hp curve, but the sheet with all the numbers on it.
A corrected and uncorrected page would be great.

I agree with you that that would make the most sense....... but he’s the one who brought up the 673hp thing, so I’m wondering where that came from.

I have a set on Order along with a nitrous cam from Bullet
So I will have some real world info on them in a month or so. Sorry fellows no dyno numbers
Will be removing a set of eq’s ,n/a cam
And reassemble Have plenty of passes with the eq’s and a 150 shot to have a little something to compare to

I didn't dyno mine, but all I swapped were heads. Same cam and all that jazz.
CNC chinesium heads 4500ft DA - 11.86@112(usually around 110 with 5000+DA) w/ soft launch shifting at 6500rpm, timing at 36*
Trickflow Heads - 5800ft DA - 11.77@114 w/ soft launch shifting at 5500rpm (first test pass w/ heads) Timing at 32*
Besides my butt dyno.. the engine does run through the rpm much smoother, feels like there is no end till it taps the limiter at 7000rpm.
Without fine tuning these are working pretty decent.

I thought I was confused last week but that was nothing compared to right now. And last week I had whiplash.

That big number was a complete screw up and just me being misinformed. The manual weather entry tab in the Dyno was pre-populated with numbers, I thought those numbers were to convert to corrected at sea level. They weren't, they were just random numbers heldover from something else? I think the baro was like 19 on that screen when I checked today. Completely my fault. I I did however note in my original post how ridiculous that number was and I couldn't figure out why cuz I knew the build didn't support that number.

So, when we did the pulls with the weather station it was already giving me corrected. I thought it was uncorrected and I had to click the manual weather to convert it with the already populated, granted erroneous, numbers. 1000% my fault. I've removed the bogus data from my original post

Did you get them ordered yet. I know we will get a realistic real time track test from you within a week from the time you receive them. order them up !
yeah I think 3K is the magic number to get those on, but really I would need another seven or eight hundred more because I'd want some good headers by then and then I'd probably want to do another cam change LOL... good Lord!!...
I don't think I've ever been known for doing one thing at a time and testing results I'm more of a doing three or four things and not knowing where something came from kind of person...
Bottom line are these on my wishlist F yeah...

Okay....... so is there any way of seeing a couple of sheets for any of the pulls?

As you can see, by bringing up the questions about the data in the first posts, it’s revealed that some of that info was erroneous.
Had it not been brought up, that erroneous info would be out there forever.

WHAT!?? People are perpetuating misleading information on the internet?
