Congratulations to 'memike' (FABO) for winning the Top Qualifier title for the 2019 NHRA Thunder Valley Nationals with a very nice total of 21.0 bonus points. 'memike' (FABO) picked the #1 qualifier in both Top Fuel and Funny Car, and the #7 qualifier in Pro Mod. Way to go!
'johnnycuda' (FABO) picked up the runner-up qualifying spot with 18.0 bonus points.
'alsant', 'Nick2317' and 'super-bee_ski' were the top FBBO qualifiers with 17.5 bonus points each.
More great picks!

We had 17 players this week and 13 different driver combos made up of:
* 6 different Top Fuel drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. There is a possibility of two head-to-head matchups in Round 2.
* 7 different Funny Car drivers with one Round 1 head-to-head matchup between #8 qualifier Tommy Johnson Jr. (3 picks) and #9 qualifier Matt Hagan (2 picks). There is also a possibility of 2 Round 2 head-to-head matchups.

* 4 different Pro Mod drivers with no Round 1 head-to-head matchups. The earliest head-to-head matchup possibility would be the semi-final round of eliminations because two of the Pro Mod driver picks failed to qualify for eliminations.

Here are the results and point standings following completion of the 11th NHRA event of the 2019 season, the Thunder Valley Nationals.

His Funny Car pick lost in the final round of eliminations, his Top Fuel pick lost in the semi-final round and his Pro Mod pick lost in the second round of eliminations.

...And if any of you are planning on attending this event, you should know that rain and flooded pits have made conditions unconducive to contest Super Stock, Stock, Super Comp, Super Gas, Top Sportsman and Top Dragster. NHRA officials will be rescheduling some portions of the event in order to accommodate competitors adequately.
The article I read on competition.com didn't mention anything about spectator parking areas.
“While we expect pleasant weather during the actual event,” said track owner Bill Bader. “Water levels in the grassy areas will not decrease enough to provide adequate pit parking for all competitors. Mother Nature has forced our hand, and it makes me sick. Sportsman racing is the foundation on which we’ve built our racetrack; you’re our valued customers and friends! It’s important that we accommodate you properly and we hope you will return when we can provide you with the wonderful experience you deserve, on solid ground.”
Ticketholders for the Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals may use their tickets to attend both portions of the event.

Ya' think Stevie "Fast" Jackson doesn't think much of Pro Mod turbo cars?

I had weekend passes for this event. We planned to camp at the track but they called me on Saturday and said ALL camping is canceled! Then they canceled the entire Sportsman program. They were good about it though and offered me a full refund, and I took it.

The Summit Racing Equipment NHRA Nationals this coming weekend may be another weather-challenged event.
Friday qualifying shouldn't have any problems as the current forecast is sunny all day with a 70F high temp.
Saturday qualifying could have some weather issues since the forecast says mostly cloudy with a 73F high temp and a 30% chance of some falling moisture between 9-11AM decreasing to 20% for the rest of the day.
The forecast for Sunday eliminations shows a 79F high temp and mostly cloudy with a 30% chance of rain increasing to cloudy and a 40% chance starting at 4PM.
And this is an improvement from the weekend forecast I read yesterday, so keep your fingers crossed this one gets in on time.

Summit Racing Equipment Nationals picks:

Top Fuel - Steve Torrence
Funny Car - Robert Hight
Pro Stock - Bo Butner
Pro Stock Motorcycle - Eddie Krawiec

For the rest of the 2019 "regular season" we are just going to include the usual four "Pro" classes: Top Fuel, Funny Car, Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle.
If either, or both, Pro Stock or Pro Stock Motorcycle is not competing during an event then they will not be included in that events points.
This will make it easier for everyone - including me totaling the points for each event.

New England Nationals, July 5-7
Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will not compete

Northwest Nationals, August 2-4
Pro Stock Motorcycle will not compete

Lucas Oil Nationals, August 15-18
Pro Stock and Pro Stock Motorcycle will not compete
