69moredoor, not all of the slants had/have the drain back tube.Not sure of the date, maybe around 1972 they did away with it.

Thanks. It may not make a difference, but the way I see it, if the pump doesn't have to fill the filter slam up then it runs dry less time, right? Maybe not. Who knows? LOL
I will say this about the drain back valve. Seems to me that it's a pretty BIG restriction in that tube. I'll try to salvage the next one I knock out this afternoon and show you. All this is my opinion. I'm sure I'm wrong. lol I like it better without it anyway.
