You setup is not installed correctly.

Thank you for the confirmation. Although that diagram does me no good, to be honest. It's showing the factory linkage. I won't be using that since I'll be converting it all to Lokar's kits. I posted the photo to confirm that KD linkage was missing. We (me and my mechanic) are aware of that - was just posting a photo as promised. I even may give this Lokar install a try myself and see how it goes. Haven't decided yet...

I added another photo to the last post showing the proper throttle cable carb stud that you are also missing for anyone else wondering about proper throttle and trans linkage connections and linkage. Good photos to put in your save files.

I'm not trying to argue, just pointing this out but every single complete stock Mopar I've ever seen has had the factory spring on the kickdown linkage that pulled it forward. I think they all came with it. That's actually pretty important.

Are you adding your comments to Dave's suggestion that there should be a forward spring in addition to the KD spring provided by Lokar? If this is what you mean, the diagram posted by MoparLeo would seem to confirm a "two-spring" set up.

Yes that diagram is dead on. If you see the spring going towards the rear of the engine, that's the one that pulls the linkage forward.

My interpretation of barracudadave67's spring comment was that he was suggesting a return spring on the TV lever on the transmission. When using the Lokar cable. DId I misinterpret the statement?

Yes, if using the stock linkage, there is a spring that holds the sliding linkage piece up against the stud on the carb lever. Totally different discussion.

I agree. I believe that spring is then eliminated with the Lokar setup. I don't know for certain, because I've never used it, but I cannot see where it could be used with the cable.

The factory cable setups used in throttle body efi vans and trucks uses a spring on the transmission. Because it is a cable it needs to be pulled back. It cannot be pushed back from above.

BTW, this is a far superior setup to the lokar bicycle cable style, can be easily adapted to an older carbureted Mopar, and is what the other aftermarket cable set up (I forget who sells it) is based on. Factory parts!

Well it's a pair but they're connected in the same place. They do that "in case" one breaks. But yes, that's "just" the throttle return spring. THe other spring is eliminated with the cable kit. I thought it was.

Not to add another A hole's opinion to the discussion, buuuut,:D
I added a light spring to the TP lever on the trans though the directions did not say to do so.
The reason is that sometimes the lever does not come come fully forward, but only to the point the spring behind the TP valve in the valve body makes it move.
There is a bit of freeplay after the internal spring is at it's full travel and the light spring on the lever at the trans returns it fully forward every time the throttle is let off.
Otherwise there can be a slight variance in the TP at very low throttle openings causing your really low speed shifts to change.
It's really not a big deal to not have it though.

This is what the return spring on the factory rods type linkage does, as RRR mentioned.
That and it helps counter the weight of the factory rods themselves.

Yes.... as RRR, and Trailbeast said..... That is what I have on my Lokar set up, A small light weight spring that was on the tranny originally, to aid in pulling the TV lever forward, because as stated you can't push a cable. It acts like an aid to the internal TV spring. Its smaller in diameter than a pencil, and is about 1 1/2 inches long. Its been on there a long time with no problems. It was on the stock tranny, that came with the car when it had the 318 2V in it.
