Can 1979 Cordoba/300 spindles be used on older A/B bodies?

The reason I ask is I have a chance to pick up a complete set of spindles with rotors, big brakes and calipers. I can't use the spindles for my Challenger since the calpers mount on the front. I have heard both that they will and won't work for the other cars. If someone could use them without getting different control arms, I will get them. Otherwise, I will just get the big brakes setup, since I already have the correct spindles for my E body.

Vin gotta start with R, W, X, or S on those cars. Right?

Yes, starts with an S. First thing I checked.

They can be fitted to most any ABE car. For A body cars earlier than 1973 you'll need to change upper control arms or use a tapered spacer. They bolt right on to any B or E body car. They'll fit just fine on your E body as well. If they are available you might as well grab them as long as the price is cheap. Nobody reproduces the taller knuckle and some people like myself prefer to use them for big brake swaps. I have the tall knuckles on my '72 Duster with Viper brakes.

If you want to use them on an early A body I can help you with the upper control arms. I have a set of new big ball joint A body a-arms for sale and I have a used set of small ball joint a-arms with the tapered spacer installed.

Just a side question, what ever happened on the Viper brake conversion? I remember reading one of your tech article where they were mentioned as being in development, but can't remember seeing them as available. Also, what is the advantage of using the taller spidle?

Swap spindles side to side to change caliper location .

I would think that would drastically change the caster looking at the spindles. That said, I already have the correct ones on my Challenger since it is '73. I was just hoping someone could use the ones from the 300 if I picked them up.

This detailed information refutes the Ehrenberg "bump steer" argument.

Thanks for the links. The Hot Rod article that I linked looks to have the same table as the ones you linked. Either way, it looks like the 300 spindles would be good for someone to use, and that was what I was wanting to know.

Swapping the spindles side to side has no effect on the caster. The only thing that changes when you do that is the location of the calipers, either front or rear. All you have to do is make sure the bleeders on the calipers are still at the top.

The only difference between the 73-76 A-body spindle and the 73+ Challenger spindle is the height, as covered in the articles you linked. And yet, the A-bodies had the brakes to the front and the E's had them to the rear. Spindles are swapped side to side between those models, right from the factory.
