I ordered a centric 620.63003 idler arm for my car since that's what rockauto called for.

after disassembling the front end I found that my idler arm is totally different.

I also can't seem to figure out what type of idler arm is have. I do know that on the chassis there is nowhere for a taper on the car side for a double taper one to fit. On the car side I definitely need the style that uses a bolt and a bushing.

Can somebody help me identify what I have on here so I can buy a replacement?

What I need looks like this one : https://m.autozone.com/suspension-s...arm-fa1012/dodge/dart/202952_148976_2793?aqs=

But the taper pin is inverted.

Here is the hole in the k member. I put the rockauto arm up there and it fit but seemed loose

Well I cleaned it up and did a little bit more digging. It really didn't seem to me that this had any taper to it whatsoever. I was wrong.

I inserted a ball joint that had a similar taper to the new rock auto idler arm, And it fit perfectly.

I'm thinking that somebody put on the wrong idler arm who knows from what. And at the RockAuto arm is probably correct. I took a better picture after I cleaned it up.

Any input ?

67 uses similer tapered at both ends idler arm, 68 up uses thru bolt like you took off.

I would measure both sides of the taper on the car to be sure it really Is tapered.

One more thing. The geometry of the idler arm should be very much the same as the steering arm

Doesn't the through bolt style use this type of k member ?

It's definitely tapered , the ball joint was a perfect fit.

I have a pitman arm on the way

You ordered the correct arm. You had the incorrect arm on the car.

Great thank you. I had my passenger side wheel (The side with the idler arm) rubbing on my front fender when the driver side was perfectly okay. Hopefully this was the culprit

Thru bolt style has a different bracket. No taper. 1/2 is above the idler 1/2 is below.
Look at lower right of image.... This is a 68 up k member. The idler you pulled off might fit it but not your car.

So you want the center link to be parallel to the ground in the greater scheme of things.
