I removed the electric trunk release from my trunk lid before paint. Now I cant get the wire fished back through where its supposed to come out at the trunk hinge area. Any secret tips to do this?

shop vac and a piece of thin silk ribbon. Once the ribbon comes through tie a string to it pull that through then tie you wire to the string. Oh yeah tape all other holes closed so suction only goes from A to B.

I had a tough one once on a long dump bed. We fed the ribbon in with a air blow gun while having the shop vac at its destination.

I've used one of these. Tape the wire to the end and push it through. Not as cool as a ribbon, but it's a handy piece to have for other projects.

I will try the shop vac method. A fish tape wont work, anything rigid just gets wedged between the two panels at the bend.

Cool Trick!!

I used mechanics wire. The ribbon and shop vac trick sounds interesting.

Back when the earliest car phones required antenna, we used a old speedometer cable as fish tape.

I got a spool of ribbon, the stuff people tie to balloons. Will report back later this evening!

Well the vacuum method did not work. I got the pull ribbon through by using a small piece of 1/2" pvc to get it over the vertical part. Tied a 1oz fishing sinker to it and it dropped right down. Tied my wire to it and started pulling through. It wedged between the upper and lower panel and is completely stuck now.
Same thing happened when I removed this wire before paint. It took me hours to get it out.
I got pissed an closed the garage for the night.
