This is why I won't buy a FBBO gold membership

Well I admit I'd have a B or two if I could afford it. 64/5 Dodge/ Ply B, or a 66/67, or a 69/ 70. Many of you know I still dream about my old 70, it was my favorite car.

The black '64 under the tree is my 426, and the limelight 70. NAS Miramar, our RADAR shop This was around 72- 73

"My" 70 before I owned it this is the original owner. I got to visit with him and his wife and have lunch last summer. First time I've seen him since about 76 or so

No good photos, anymore they are all faded

This was in 73/74 I had swapped a 340 into it by then

Well if it ain't another E.S.A.D thread... lol
Inferno party time.
The bait set... and trap ready... snappp!
Spider caught a fly... lmao
If anybody can read.. he said "not all but a lot or most" etc whatever .... So if you actually responded to that, go stand in the corner and put on the cap!!
To the rest.... bravo , take a bow .haha
Wishful thinkers, optimists...can't live with them...can't live without'em. ;)

Mine just ran out, I won't be renewing it. A lot of general discussions there are turned political lately and get ugly FAST. It's unbelievable how a certain click there has overrun the place and like to label anyone who has a difference of opinion . I'm not thin skinned, but who needs the bullshit when your not looking for a debate. I stop in for repair info or see what's for sale, but other than that I'm done. To bad. I'm a Mopar guy.

This is what I do on the b bodies forum, check the perf. parts f for sale , and move on--

Vettes!!???? hahahahah... anyway..... Back in the 90's I bought a 69 vette 427 390 hp pretty decent car but it needed body/paint. I got it from guy I bought some early B bodies off in Wichita and he had a Vette resto shop. Part of the deal was he would send his bodyman from his shop in Ks over to me and my guy in Mo and show us the details of replacing fiberglass fenders ( yes they are 2 pieces "glued" together), gelcoat, etc.
Long story short, That all happens, we did a complete paint job, redid the interior, mechanically it was great. I also made a trip out to Bloomngton, In. to their big do dah show . I found I did not fit in with 95% of them, pretty snobby bunch ( I dared not talk of my Mopars!)... I also was informed my 390 horse 69 possessed little attraction to them. OKkkkkk... If it was an original 425 hp ( 3 deuce) car, then it be a little " better". While East I did pick up some Mopar stuff so not a total waste. ( 69 rustfree Hemi GTX roller for $5000 LOL) ,,, I sold this Vette and they were right , back in '94-5? wasn't worth much, I think it brought $8-9000 and I had to deliver it to Wi. !!!!!!!
I still LOVE car people that love the old car hobby, horsemn than appreciate the work ethic of a good minded horse, and people that love dogs. OK so some cat people are great too! ps... anyone want my wife's cockatoo before I strangle the SOB??????
I ad a 68 / 427 vette for 23 1/2 hrs and sold it ----rattling, rough riding sick piece of ----

I guess this tread started back in May as why not to buy the gold membership. I understand but I look at it as why TO buy the membership. For one thing this thing moves faster without the ad BS which I know is a necessary part of paying for the site. I am good with it all. But I like the thing to move along, I don't mind the $40 because all the help and friendships here are worth much more to me.

Wow I started a cat fight.

I like all cars GM, Ford, Mopar!! My first car in 1972 was a 69 Coronet R/T My second car was a 69 Coronet R/T. Then I bought a 70 340 swinger for work. I had my share of Pontiac GTO's and Firebirds. Camaros and Chevelles. I don't have room on my fingers and toes to count just the Road runners. The red & white 70 GTX that is usually in the survivor tent was mine as was the blue 69 Coronet R/T conv.

I am 63 yrs old and found through the years that new owners of B and E body cars that never owned anything else do stand with there arms crossed over their chest . It is the people that enjoy the car hobby that are great people. There are some that just buy a car and don't appreciate what it takes for some of us to put one together for the love of the hobby.

You can tell those who love their cars and have pride in what they built or worked hard for. They will talk your ear off on what they have done to their car. And then there are those who have a mind set of LOOK AT ME! I would love to have one of my B-bodies back. They are out of my price range at this time. I never did like driving E-bodies and I have had every motor in one except Hemi.

There's nothing that compares to a track pack option in a 68-69 b-body. I drove one other car in 1971 that really impressed me A 1970 Torino Cobra shaker hood car. That 429 was really a power house and RPM's through the roof. Street racing was what I did. There was one car I could never get around if he hole shotted me . 68 cyclone 428 automatic. he was my Nemesis on the big end.

I had a 65 tri power 4 spd. GTO. I liked that car more than the other GTO's I had. There was not much difference than the 66 or 67's I had. Looking out over the hood was the same. But the dash was more compact and I liked the squared off roof . My 64 had a cooler looking hood but the power glide was depressing.

There are guys that only ever owned one car and know everything because they read it somewhere. I know a couple guys in my area like that. They know every number on a car for any part. They still don't have the experience of driving those numbers like some of us old car guys did. Knowledge is nothing without the feeling of how they really were when they were new with the bias ply's they came with. You have to drive all the brands to appreciate the muscle car era.

My Corvette was like My Harley and a E-body, An ego trip and that is it.

I love all cars but the A-body crowd is a different breed that I enjoy being a part of.

Well said Steve, and I agree wholeheartedly. I'll be 62 in less than a month, and like you, have owned every body style Mopar you can think of. They were fun to drive when they were new or close to new, and as much as I dislike getting old....I am very thankful to have come up in the time we did and got to experience them as newer cars. I had a 69 Firebird, 400 4 speed that would absolutely scream. Had a lot of E bodies, and still have 2 of them. One needs restored and the other one gets the snot run out of it every time it leaves the garage. I get the arms crossed over the chest looks from some other E body owners because I run the piss out of a Challenger convertible....lol. The main takeaway I got from the whole 71 Roadrunner part out thread was that you were in the fight of your life and needed it gone. I hope you're doing well now, and life is good.

Harley. Ego trip?!?!? Hoping you meant your Ego. Why put others down? My Harley has taken me to places across this country and Canada that I would have never seen otherwise. Have met some fine people and made countless friends. Would have never happened on any other bike.
But this is about cars. I also own a B-body and love it. I miss my 69 Dart GT and can't afford anything else right now. Maybe some day. I am not a gold member at FBBO because I find the tech here better. Maybe I am part of the problem (along with other B-body owners). If I contributed more input to FBBO it would be a "better" forum imo.

The couple of Harleys I have now I feel different about but in 1973 I had a 72 sporster . I put drag pipes on it . Back in the 70's anything loud that sounded Cam'd up was cool. So like said they sounded faster then they were, Turned heads and like Corvettes with header side pipes they would turn heads in a crowd. So they did boost your ego if you had one.

I also owned a Firebird 400 4spd. But it was a 67. I used to see how many gears I could shift before it would start to move. My friend Bruce loaned me his tires off of his Chevelle for a night. He never offered them to me again. Yeah those were the days.

Gary Schwieker had a hemi auto R/T in 1973 , 69 white with red stripe. It ended up being the give away car at Carlisle. but it was a clone he still had the original body as a drag car. I had a tan 69 R/T 440 six pack dealer installed new. Gene and Franks auto body in Allentown Had More bad news 68 pail yellow R/T Hemi Auto. A-town Hustlers

I remember sitting at the drive in side by side. That was a sight. Yes we did run. The 68 all I saw was Tail lights. The Hemi 69 I beat him the first time. Once he put Headers, Gears , and slicks on that car. It was tailights the whole way also.

I found out later that the 68 had a nitrous kit, Back then you never heard of that being used much. Wish I would have known about it. If only I would have kept and took care of some of those cars. But I was a street racer and it was all about making money. I started slowing down in the 80's when I got married. I sold one B-body per kid and the rest for braces and College. Should have stayed single longer I guess. But I wouldn't trade my Grand children for anything.

No cat fight here!!! I hope! I say people that have a love of the automobile, it is just that simple. They love the auto. Sure some people have hate for the other brand, or a certain brands model. But real car people love the automobile thing in life.
Here is a funny story. If too long stop right now! Long story short, my buddy since HS is a life long car/boat dealership guy. Business guy, a flipper, he has been rich and broke 2-3 times. He is my age 71. His son and him restored 454 Cheveles, other high end GM stuff, back when they were skyhigh.
He bought a couple of Mopars a few years ago. He wanted me to travel 6 hour to LOOK them over for him , at my expense, so I just declined!!! He bought them, pays his man in his shop to restore them, and now says no more mopars, mopar guys are anal!! ha The guy has been into cars all his life one way or another. I say he has no true love of the car, just a means to make a buck, look important, and run his mouth.
I have owned many Mopars over the last 35 years. Only a few GM cars. Not because I hate the brand, or the people that are into them, I just was always told to stick with what you know! Fewer mistakes and bad decisions that way!!!

FABO is the best site for mopars I have found. Just the prayers and thoughtfulness of members is unfound on any other site compared to the A-body crowd. If your looking for information or parts on The web the search usually brings you to FABO.

Well worth the Gold membership. Without gold my PM's are full in a week. The site only gets better with every gold member. Some of the builds on this site are unbelievably informative and second to none. I thought I knew it all until I met some very knowledgeable Mopar people here.

The pictures are well worth the membership. "Once you get old you won't regret going gold " I Love pictures, LOL

Never been in the blue room. I have a room where my wife sleeps. I visit that room occasionally. But I am usually in the tool room.

is your buddy the guy from Fast & Loud?? Kidding of course! What you described is exactly what I think of him. No love for the cars,... just how much money he can make off them. I like Aaron Kaufman from the show, but stopped watching when Aaron left because I can't stand Richard!

I just wish people would stop sneaking up beside me on the expressway and honking their horns.
I've stopped responding to people who are on the sidewalk when i'm at stoplights.
Get's creepy sometimes.
I'll speak to them at gas stations and if they are in a car next to me.
That's it.

Wait.
You mean people with B bodies don't drive their cars everyday and have that happen to them?

I have owned A's, B's, C's, E's and F's...I have never owned a Chevy but I drove 3 of them. I did own a Ford and beat Chevy's with it and really enjoyed it! I go to car shows and while there are brands I won't buy, I don't bash the guy who owns and restores one because we are all members of a brotherhood who love cars, keeps the hobby going and by doing so keeps it alive. I was on FBBO for a long time and was a moderator and I would like to think I did good job, I enjoyed being part of the family. When I sold my B body I bought C body, moved FCBO and took a second place at Carlisle with my 68 Monaco 500 which made me proud, not for myself but for the car and brand name. Now I own another A body and find myself on FABO, probably my last classic, I didn't buy it for resale value, I bought it for the enjoyment it would give me and for the pride I would feel every time I drove down the road in it.
There are assholes everywhere, we have them in our families, we work with them and hell, many of us have married one if not a few of them....this is a place to enjoy, to learn not only about others but also ourselves. Play nice guys, we are all in this together and I would like to think for all the same reasons. I just turned 69 and I look back over all the years and remember all the friends I have made because of classic cars, all the history I have learned because of classic cars and all the memories I will have in hopefully the far future when I can't drive those cars anymore.
