Fresh Air Door

-
Thanks. I bought the restoration kit and took apart the box and restored it. The door whose actuator rod is under the metal plate? Ha! Chrysler made no provision to remove it. I found a way but it was tricky. It was also the most rusty door on my California no rust car. I replaced all the foam and hit all rivet heads and problematic parts with POR15. I hate rust. I have one foam door piece left because my car is missing the driver's side air box door. You can have it

Looks good. Mine still works, but the foam is gone & they leak a lot of air. Will need to find some foam to fix them.
Walmart has some sheets of foam in the hobby/ craft/ sewing section that works great for replacement on these doors. Just cut to shape and use some high temp spray adhesive like used for headliners.

You have a 69 Barracuda? Wow. Yes, agreed. I am trying to organize two of us to go. Be great to meet up. Hot is a four letter word to me. I'm from back east and had no idea it got so hot here. What I'm doing:
Nice job on your vent door.

I have gone to the HPAC Show in the past, but it seems like mostly full of new cars. If several of you go I might be convinced. Was trying to put together some mopar therapy sessions (home meet n greets, beverages) as well.

I am going to the show, but would also be game for some therapy sessions. The local HPAC mopar club has cruise night the third Saturday of the month at Culver’s at 135th & Antioch in Overland Park that I usually attend.

What ma mopar gave us is a barn door on a bird house.
So I ask same question every time this topic comes up...
If there was a replacement panel that attaches with screws, and that panel had a vent in it similar to the dash vents in newer vehicles, you could regulate and direct the air flow, and there was also a washable filter behind it to hold dust, pine needles, etc., in the bird house... would you buy it?

You guys going to the HPAC show next Saturday?

Inspector 71, would love to have the foam insert. Bring it if you come to the show.

I'll probably go, but if I bring my '66 I'll be out in the regular parking lot.

I always wondered if I was alone in getting blasted with debris that fills up behind the "fresh" air door...
I bought some aquarium (fish tank) filter foam and cut it to fit behind the door. The mesh is big enough that there is still air flowing, albeit not as much. But it does a pretty good job of keeping leaves and sticks and other debris from blowing around the interior and grossing me out. And by nature it's meant to be washed and cleaned for fish tank purposes so it can be removed, and put back again and again.
