.....of his little "Squirt" niece. She just graduated from Air Force Basic. She scored a 97 on the ASVAB. Since she is already a college grad, she is already an E3. Going into something to do with electronics. I'll know more when I see her in a couple weeks.

That is excellent Rusty, I am sure she will do well in her career field. Being a collage graduate she is well on her way to becoming an officer if she chooses.

With that score and a college degree didn't they offer her OCS??

Good for her. She can do good for herself. You should be proud.

She had a lot to choose from. She took something to honor her grandfather (Daddy) as he was an EM3C in the navy in WWII, plus she likes electronics. She's fluent Spanish as that was her major at Valdosta State, so she'll have lots of uses for The Air Force I am sure. Her mother (my sister) wanted her to take French as a second language.........but after a couple of Nu Way hot dogs on a day out with Uncle Rob, she decided in her 10th grade year to start studying Spanish all on her own. She was already fluent by her senior year in high school. She'll go far for sure. Plus, she's a Trump girl.

Awesome young lady and it's a great feeling that whenever you know you were able to influence her life.

I did it twice. The first time when I suggested Spanish and the second when I suggested Law Enforcement or the Military. She's a good girl. My sister hates me more now though. lol

That’s awesome. You should be proud. It’s even harder to get accepted in the Air Force now than ever before. If she gets stationed in San Antonio give me a shout when you come to visit her. When I was in the service it was great to have the few family members that did come to visit me. If you are here don’t eat at the river walk restaurants. (I’ve been in their kitchens)

Good reason to be proud!

But, I agree with YR, her recruiter failed her. That was an easy ticket to a paycheck three times bigger. Amongst other benefits, both financial and growth, not that you don't grow as an enlisted member.
Regardless, great story, there may be hope yet.....

It warms my heart to see an intelligent young lady enter the ranks of the Air Force. You should be proud, for sure!!

Please update us on her career field when you learn more. I was in electronics...2E173, Ground Radio Communications Specialist.

Let me add that for me, the worse day in the Air Force was better than the best day not!!

I share in your pride. I am a retired USAF officer, and I am excited for her opportunity. Please tell her from me that a smile and a positive attitude are really important. I was always highly impressed with people who acted like they really enjoyed their job and being in the Air Force. I always did everything I could for them.

I'm sure a first shirt will see what can be done about OCS. The military wants their people to succeed. But I'm biased about the Air Force. Spent 4 years in that branch.

Congrats to her, and you have good reason to be so proud of her. I know a kid who went into the Air Force after high school, and he's into some high falootin electronics stuff for the USAF. He spent 2 years in Hawaii, and is now in Alabama. Hopefully your niece will get some good assignments like Aaron did!

Very cool tell her I said congratulations and thank her for her service!
My best friend from childhood joined the airforce when we got out of school in 2002 he is still in! I dont see him very often he travels everywhere he is overseas somewhere right now.

Advise her to stay in as long as she can. My only regret about the Air Force was retiring after 21 years. I should have stayed 30!!
