Due to a foot injury I'm no longer able to use the clutch so decided to look for a donor car to convert to an automatic found a 74 Valiant 4 door 318 for $500 it's telling me to save it's life so got it running everything seams fine working on brakes now when they prove ok since it had the worse gas known to mankind I'll put in a new tank and make it a crusty old man's daily driver for under 1K

Good to hear! looks like a spare tire hold-down wing nut on the air cleaner. next step will be a 360 with a slight stall convertor and 3.55 gears and,and,and...
Good luck with the new "daily driver" and healing for your foot.

That's a hell no

NOT a spare tire wing nut or not another project?
my problem is, once I buy a vehicle, I plan it, it sits, I see it done in my mind and it sits some more.
good luck with yours! gonna convert to 134a? be interested to see how it's done. Bob

Cool car man!! Thanks for saving it and driving it. More door cars need more love than they get. I hate to see them get parted out and scrapped.

Sorry to hijack, thought you wouldn't mind me passing this along. Same as you I bought a 63 Belvedere car for parts and didn't have the heart to cut it up. Now on it's way to being a semi-gasser style daily driver.

might give the 134a a shot just because but down the road picked this up on the 4th and hope to be driving by next week

My dad had a 1975 Valiant Brougham 318. Red with a white vinyl top.

Thing was a tank! And it would smoke the tires all day long. He loved it.

Did my 79 Cordoba R12 to 134. Checked the oil, pumped it down put 2 1/2 cans of R 134 in it and nice and cool. That was 5 years ago and works just fine. All the myths and taboos debunked.

bad master cylinder - going to replace the rear wheel cylinders - bleeders wouldn't budge and broke sure they are oem anyway

Little bit of maintenance/work it will be a good car.
