So, I have gas powered yard tools. However, I work overseas and am back for 30 days every 90 days. The individual that does the yard while I am gone has a bad shoulder, so starting the equipment is difficult for her. So, I need to buy battery powered tools. What brands are you using, if anyone on this site uses battery powered ones....

Reading reviews online is a crapshoot, too many paid sites.

Stihl? Husky? Dewalt?

Want to buy once, cry once.

Thanks

I have a black and decker battery powered weed eater my wife bought me because my gas one crapped out last year. At first I was like wth did you buy that piece of crap? I don't want no electric weed eater! But then after I used it I probably will never buy another gas one. It's super light has just as much power as any gas trimmer iv ever had(iv never had a good stihl or anything) and I dont have to stop and mix gas. One less gas can i have to fill! It came with two batteries so I can swap them out if one dies. It only takes about 60 mins to charge one and it seems to last about 40 mins I have right at 40-50 mins worth of trimming so I can usually finish with one battery.

I have Milwaukee power tools and yard tools. Same battery fits both. The 9 Ah battery will trim my yard 3 times. It also fits 1/2'" impact for heavy jobs.

Milwaukee Is good stuff! I want one if their impacts but I can't afford them.

I have DeWalt 20v stuff, a leaf blower and a string trimmer. They work great! I got them because I already have 20V DeWalt stuff for my garage tools, so drill, 1/4” driver, 1/2” impact, sawzall, and even a 4 1/2” grinder. I was a little skeptical about the impact and the grinder, but again, they’re awesome. And because I have a bunch of them I have a handful of batteries at this point so I have a good charging rotation. Battery life is great especially with the 5 amp hour batteries I got with the latest stuff.

How many volt is that Milwaukee?

18 volt. They now have a 12 Ah battery. There stuff is expensive but worth it. They have sales on kits every once in a while. Usually include a free battery or tool.

The 1/2" inch impact is awesome. I don't even know where my air impact is anymore, don't need it.

Any of you guys wish you went with a 40w?
I always try to figure what I need and go one step up if I can.

Not an enormous yard, about .6 of an acre.
Lots of bushes to trim.

I have the 20 volt Worx GT tools and like them really well. I have to string trimmers to blowers cordless chainsaw and all work really well.

Milwaukee does not have one. I would worry too much about voltage but the watt hour the battery can deliver. Also battery quality. I know Milwaukee are good and I assume Dewalt is also. Another case of you get what you pay for.

80 volt Kobalt blower and string trimmer.
Great stuff, got em on sale months ago for $88 each.
Blower is awesome, easy to use.
Trimmer isn't light but balances well.
2 batteries, 2 chargers included.

I have the Green Works 40 volt max lithium ion trimmer and blower that work great. You can get the tools on Amazon really reasonable.

Thanks to all who have responded.

That 80v, can’t believe they make one, what is the weight on it?

A small lady will be using these, so I have to keep that in mind.

In my mind Milwaukee may get the nod as I am looking for quality.

I was talked into a Ryobi once and it was weak.

I am bias here Stihl has been in the business of keeping yards trimmed and trees cuts for many years, hard to beat their chainsaws. They do have their series of easy start trimmers as well as electric. The electrics ones are balanced well and lite, but they can get pricey......

Neighbor uses E go, has the mower, snow blower, edger, wacker....had to replace one of the batteries. He said he called them about the problem, sent him a new one, with no hassle, didn't have to send the old one back. Think hes had it 3 years.

How are the Dewalt holding up after a year and a half. I’m thinking about going with the Dewalt trimmer, blower and possibly the small chainsaw. Chainsaw only for light work. I have a Sthil farm boss, and blower. Echo trimmer. The gas stuff showing their 25-30 years. Craig

I got on the Worx bandwagon and have had good luck in the last 5 years. Blower, hedge trimmer, string trimmer, chain saw and a extension pole which works quite well. I bought a big 20 volt battery that lasts a long time on a charge.

I got ya but, I’ve been acquiring Dewalt power tools lately. It would be nice to use the few 8ah batteries I have.

Still working great! And I’ve had the blower and string trimmer longer than a year and a half too. Still using all the same batteries too. I have a couple newer batteries since then, but they’re only 5aH. I still have some older 3 and 4aH batteries as well, although the blower, grinder and impact really do better with the 5aH. All of my DeWalt 20v tools are doing well too, I’ve got a couple drills, impact driver, 3/8 impact wrench, sawzall, grinder etc. No issues with any of them.

I sold DeWalt for years on the tool truck and I have a lot of cordless hand tools, but they were late to the party with lawn and garden tools. That's why I started with Worx. I needed a string trimmer and got tired of mixing 2 cycle oil. LOL
