I know you all like pictures to comment on. And I have 100's of pics of cars I have stripped. This car sat near Daves location I was after it for many years. I told them I needed the parts. I finally got the something when I told them I was looking for a car to fix up. I didn't lie I fixed up the "Tough wheel"

Don’t you know you are supposed to save and fix them all, spend countless $$$ on them, only to offer them up for pennies on the dollar, and get beat down on your price?

I admit I get amazed at some of the projects people "up North" will buy to restore or try to restore over a few decades. I was raised in Ga., lived in Missouri 39 yrs, and now in Texas. I have never lived in the rust belt. But I see pics of what is bought there. Wow!!! MY gosh. I admit I have bought some rust free cars out of Mn., S.D., a few not too rusty out of Ia., but all years ago. They were never driven in the winter there. Those same cars would be a little rustier today no doubt.
Then I am amazed at these same people, that pay more for a rusted out POS than what the price for a solid non rust belt project. Yes shipping adds to the price , but...
It is strange how the sum of GOOD parts on a project car can bring in more $ than it will as a good project. Not talking of a rusted out and incomplete POS either. Talking just $, not amount of work or time to part it, just selling price of said project car.
Why are our Mopars worth what they are? Because (we) the buy will pay what we pay. We can start with a good project even value it at nothing, spend the $ and time to make it a decent driver or even a nut and bolt resto job, and the buy will always want it for pennies on the dollar, just like cosgig just said. He is so right, Been this way mostly forever.
Whats funny and so true, th Chevy guy an spend , for exmaple, $20,000 on a chevy, have 20 buyers in line and sell it for $30,000. The same guy old spend $20,000 on the Mopar, have 1 buyer, an get $12,000 for that Mopar!! lol

I do think it's a shame to see them just rotting away but I also agree with alot of you. Its theirs they paid for it, they paid/pay taxes in it, it's none of my business what they do or don't do with it! I had a guy come knocking on my door one time he was interested in my dart he asked the normal questions "what year what engine" I could see the disappointment when he found out it was a 75 slant six car I guess he was expecting a 70 340 4 speed swinger. Then he asked me if I wanted to sell it? I said not really but for the right amount anything is for sale. He looked at it and said I will give you 150! I just laughed I literally thought he was joking he looked at me all serious and said you can't get much more that out of scrapping it! I said I have no plans on scrapping it. If you just let set there is gonna rust and wont be worth scrapping he said. Then I nicely asked him to leave. People are arrogant assholes and want everything for free. I know my car isnt much but that's just insulting. There is a guy down the road he is a hoarder, his daddy was a hoarder also. His dad collected old 30s and 40s he collects 60s and 70s he has quite the collection including a super bird, a hemi gtx , 3x 69 roadrunners, at least 3 67-69 cameros, 3 gtos, a bunch of old 70s pickups every make you can imagine, and a bunch more behind the house you can see from the road. He is a super dude you can stop by and talk to him look around but he makes it perfectly clear nothing is for sale! I mean nothing!!! He won't sell so much as an emblem Haha I guess he just got tired of ppl coming by lowballing him and insulting him. Idk but he has some cool stuff! Iv know at least 3 other guys like him all older guys in their 60s they have quite the nice collection and dont want to part with it and I dont blame them.

I paid $350 for the Dart Sport . Fighting snakes and rodents it took 3 of us about 1 hour to get it on the trailer. we almost brohe the car in two. I took the stainless and parts that would be usable on my 71's. It had a perfect 75 grille. I had a member come here for parts he told me he is interested in the grille so I pulled it .

It was very hard to get it out due to every screw and bolt fighting me and I had no clue what was holding things together. We didn't agree on a price and I really didn't know its value because I do not follow 75 parts worth. After about 4 hours I got it out in perfect condition. Mostly going after screws from the back and cutting them off with a cut off wheel. About a pack of wheels later I called him and he came back the next day.

I told him to make me a reasonable offer. He looked at it for about 20 minutes. These were his words.

" After looking at it it is going to need to be disassembled , repainted and the aluminum parts polished I am willing to give you $50 and take the chance it won't break when taking it apart"

I got on the golf buggy drove it over and told him "leave"!. His face was unforgettable. That alone was worth the time I spent.

I saw him at Carlisle yesterday with his 75 dart with a ugly pieced together Grille. and dented head light rims he tried to straighten. I drove up to the front of his car on my buggy. Looked at him then his grille smiled and drove off.

So I offered it to them for what I paid $500 with these pictures. No reply's. I saved every part that was usable and gave them with the two others I sold . Some of these cars are just not worth the time to save. But they can become a valuable asset to revive another. Unless you are able to actually do all the work in your own garage or foot the bill to do it . Maybe you should just refrain from commenting

I hope your not talking about me refraining from commenting. Yes the 2 examples you showed in pix were shot. They were beyond fixing. I see a lot of stuff on Fabo that is fixible though, and gets parted out.

That 64 V8 malibu sitting for 26 years in a driveway because he was "gonna fix it up someday" is stupid ****. If your gonna let it languish in the elements until it's that bad that its junk, then just sell it and let the dream go since your not gonna do anything with it anyways.

BTW I got I think $125 out of a 74 dart grille and bezels. I think that would have been a more reasonable offer. I woulda told him I am thinking more like $125, and if he balked, then run it over with the golf cart. Still funny, you got the last laugh. If buying something, I always ask the seller their price first. Sure I am rollin the dice that their value on it is low, and it may or may not be. That's a chance you take.

Parts? I ask the price, then I say basically what it is worth to me. I have not been to the Nats in 12 yrs and Carlile in even more so I have no idea of the going price, now days.. There are NO Mopar swaps arounds here, so buying from an individual at his home is about both agreeing on a price without pissing off the seller and him running over it with his golf cart! lol Golfers are a punchy bunch!! ha

It's so funny he says take a chance on breaking it taking it apart. Doesnt he know that MEK will glue cracked grille plastic back together easily.

I had 4 hrs taking it out for him. I was going to leave it in. I saved every part and it was perfect and the brackets . He also wanted the bumper extensions front and rear . They sucked taking them off. He was just just making things up why it wasn't worth that much. Then he made the offer.

I was not in a good mood because when I called him and said I saved the grille. He asked me if I could also save him those bumper fillers. I was filthy dirty with **** in my eyes from just taking them off and wasn't in the mood to deal with and Asshole when he arrived. $50 for everything wasn't even close.

73 and 74 grilles I can take out in a flash. The 75 grilles had more hidden screws then I ever saw. That could be why I never saved one. It takes 4 people to carry the front bumper and I could not get those bolts to come off either. I should have just ran it through with the forks on skid loader and called it a day .

Another thing, Some of those car that you think can be saved. They don't have titles they are always lost . The scrap yard don't even take them. Then you have to cut them up and stuff them in another car.

I have a grapple bucket on the skid loader I can tear them to shred in minutes. Like this deck lid it was perfect off the scamp I put it on the car to sell the car to someone. The deck lid alone was worth the asking price of the car. He was complaining the deck lid was rusted. I told him $350 for the car and I'll replace the lid . It had an 8 3/4 323 rear disc brakes. Drive it home. It was a younger guy I was going to give him the car cheap . I knew he didn't have much money. He brought his dad back and his dad offered me $200 . That was lower then scrap weight without the drive line.
I was not in the mood my wife was on my case to put a fence up all morning. Which I really didn't have the money to do. She thinks it grows on trees

I picked it up about 4 feet, Slammed it on the ground a couple of times . I spun around in the loader and said." Is there anything else you are interested in" . They looked at my glaring eyes got in their truck and left. We laughed our asses off for a week.

I used the disc brakes and the rear in the Duster I am building. I guess I am getting to old for Bull ****. In the last year I threw many off the patch. Even friends that were never really friends. Since I was diagnosed with cancer I don't have time for idiots.

Seems a waste. Its yo money though. You coulda sold it for more. Oh well. I woulda kicked em off my property, and said to em, go find something better for $200 then A$$hole, but I would not have trashed a rebuild able car either. Titles are easy to get out here. Maybe not so much where you live, but if the car is restorable, solid, it's worth it to pursue a title. I have done 2 Texas bonded titles, and 3 Texas green salvage titles changed to blue regular titles. Some hoops to jump thru, but nothing terribly hard.

Here is another one. I offered people doors that they were picking up. They wanted close up pictures. Now what sense does that make. They already had the pictures I posted. They lived close. So in about a week after they kept asking for pictures. I sent them some and told them they doors were no longer available.

I don't frequent the FBBO site anymore so the members on that site do not get any opportunities for B-body cars I find. And there are many. Is this is what is going to happen on this great site. Bash the owners and we will never see or here of the cars we find. I already have been bashed for this car. Where does it end? Grow up.

A car is just a thing. No intrinsic value other than what someone places on it. If those that own these old cars choose to let them rot, rust or be crushed...it is their right.

And no amount of complaining about it changes that. It is the land of the free to pursue what they choose to do what they wish with their possessions.

America, understand what it is..and respect the liberties it was founded on.

There was a title for it but I wanted the rear and the disc brakes. That is why I bought it. I was willing to let it go to help the kid out. I paid $400 and I already took the nice Dash pad I was only selling it because the kid stopped and ask me for it. Oh He was in his early 20's and he came back with his dad or an older friend to get it cheaper ? He didn't know who he was dealing with

Sounds like after being diagnosed w cancer you have gotten a bit testy w people. I assume you like these cars too otherwise you wouldent be working on them. So why destroy good useable parts and or repairable cars? That primered 70 dart or scamp, I woulda bought that, and trailored back to Tx.

Ya sure you dealt w Assholes but what about the rest of us. I would be willing to pay reasonable prices for stuff. A long while back . A couple years ago I recall, You had put an ad up on fabo with storage units full of stuff. I had PMed you with a list of stuff I needed. Talking you down on price was never in my thoughts. However you said you didnt want to deal with shipping. That's part of it. Not everybody lives in your area.

I have sold parts all over the U.S. Canada, and overseas to Poland, Germany, England, Belgium, and Iceland, to people on this very site exclusively. Almost never had any issues. Most on here are super people to deal with.

I think somebody was gonna buy all your parts from you at one time, and then never showed up so you told all of us about it, threw it all in a dumpster took pix, posted them to Fabo and had it carted off. What did that prove anyways, that people pissed ya off so you were gonna act that way and take it out on fabo folks by posting pix of that ****.

A real **** It attitude is what I am reading from your quoted post.

Yes I remember when you did that. I've read that thread front to back. Some of those guys you can tell have never worked on a car with any rust. Rust repair ain't for the faint of heart. That car right there was gone. Anybody basked you for parting it was an idiot.

Bashed for what? Parting it? Seriously? Let someone come buy the whole thing and let them restore that thing. I'm surprised it stayed in one piece loading it on the trailer.

Yea I agree that car is a perfect part out candidate. I wouldn't spend the hard work, time and money trying to piece it back together.

There $$....how would you feel if we all told you what to do with your $$?:rofl::rofl::rofl:

I figured this out decades ago. Parting cars, yes the hard dirty work,.... selling parts, swap meets with all the expense, the time, travel for these of us wayyyyy out, it makes you figure out pretty quick if you like it or not!! My parts accumulated way back in the 80;s as I was restoring and selling done cars, selling projects, the parts cars came and went, parts accumulated. I never recall that I wanted to be in the used parts business! I would take parts to locals Mopar shows that had a swap spot, or to Nats and a few time from Mo. to Carlsle. Sold a little out of the shop that was many miles from the population. You either love the whole deal or not. Can't say I loved it at all.
Unless you live close, you never make many $, especially going long distance to the big swaps, even back 20 years ago when things were cheaper. I was SOooooo glad when I finally got all my spare parts gone. I kept some stuff for the models I was doing at that time. I gave a pickup FULL of good parts to a good friend back 25 years ago. He had put me onto some great cars, for what he gave for them, and he was CHEAP!!!!
I learned way back decades ago I am not a people person. I enjoy the company of good people that I share the love of the same things.
Being poor, or having $, or being conservative ( tight ), or throwing $ away, be they loud, or quite,.... they can all be good people. Assholes are assholes no matter what.

This thread has been somewhat entertaining. I guess I could start a new thread and ask to be "rated" lol..but I am not concerned with opinions.

My cars are my toys. Cheap toys, I have no V code E bodies, or 340 or 383 A bodies. I buy cheap projects, but decent ones I can do the body/paint work on, get them where I can drive them down the road. Eventually paint them. Sooner or later thy will find a new home for car love. I usually have 3-5 cars at any given time.

I just don't intent to spend the $ on them and take a lose, so I have reasonable price and basically do all the work. I have to buy a good project at a decent price. The market? It has rose and fallen 3 times since the 80's. Basically the models that rise and fall are the high end models, the six pacs, the hemis, etc. .... I car less.

Sometime I have a car sitting outside. It goes under roof when I can a afford some tin and lumber.

Got 5 cars right now, 2 for sale, 3 that run/drive.

Good thing there are cars that are parts cars, and donate their guts so another an live. The repop companies will never cater to my oddball models!!!!n

I am glad Dartnut has saved these boner cars from the crusher. I would even try to by a needed part off him IF he did not live in Canada!!!! Ever see postage from Canada!!!!!! lol
Boner cars?
I wouldn't quite go that far even though i like 'em and all.........
It's not hard for me to ship parts from the U.S. to a U.S. location as i live about 60 miles north of the U.S. border and could ship stuff from Sweetgrass Montana.
I also have parts shipped there and go pick them up and bring them across and pay the duties and taxes etc.
It's a lot cheaper than having them sent directly to me, especially if i buy from Summit or Jegs that have free shipping in the continental U.S.

I don't know how many cars in that condition that i have parted out, am in the process of parting, or will be in the future.
Let the purist blowhards save them if they want to, but 99% of the time i find that they are usually the ones that want the car for nothing and don't buy it anyway even at that.
Then they are the first ones that whine about to you about it if you part it and scrap the rest.
That's the ''save 'em all'' crowd as i call them.
There's too many people telling you what to do with your cars and parts these days and really don't understand it's none of their business what you do with YOUR car(s) just as it isn't your business what they do with theirs.
And prices?
If you don't like it then move on.
No comments. No judging.
Again, mind your own business people!
