Does anyone know how Alpine White/Spinnaker White (PPG 2033), which was introduced in ‘69, would compare to the earlier white from 1965-1967 which Chrysler called “Persian White” (PPG 8362)?

Also, how would the one-year-only 1968 white (PPG 8653) compare to these two?

I’m under the impression that Alpine White/Spinnaker White is creamy with a hint of yellow but I’m not sure about the other two.

I’m contemplating one of these three, and leaning toward Alpine White.

Thanks!

Your best bet is to go to an auto paint store and see if they have old ditzler books. They will have chips that you can compare. The thing everyone needs to remember is those formulas and toners do not exist anymore. The colors are changed as technology advances and the colors are "crossed" to best represent the original color.
Also when these cars were being painted the quality control was not the best and you could have 5 cars with the same code that look completely different.
You could also see if your local paint store can cross those numbers and mix them for you. You could then do two spray out cards to compare... Or simply look at the formulas they come up with and compare what toners are being used.

EW1 is the code for Spinnaker or Eggshell White.

1969 Chrysler Spinnaker White paint
This white automotive paint color is most commonly known as simply 'White'. Other common color promotional names include Spinnaker White, Spinnake White, Eggshell White, Alpine White, Dover White, Eggshell, and Tractor White. The color formulation has been used between 1967 and 1983, primarily by Dodge; but also by Plymouth, Chrysler, and Gravely. We have records of this color appearing on the following models: Dodge, Plymouth, Fury, Dodge Truck, Imperial, Coronet, Valiant, Dart, Monaco, Polara, Barracuda, Charger, Challenger, Satellite, Belvedere, and Chrysler Special Order / Fleet. See the full detailed list below.

The short model/year code for this paint in 1969, is W1. The longer Chrysler paint manufacturing code, sometimes called the "Dodge Truck paint code" is DT1417. This longer manufacturing code is useful for tracking paint usage

that's the color used on Chrysler 300's in the 60/70's. I believe it does have a hint of yellow in it. I believe it is supposed to reflect the color of canvas, hence the name Spinnaker White.

Agree, they had it before 69------

I read somewhere the name Spinnaker White is because that sail was subject to the salt spray etc that would make it off-white.
