Mechanical Fuel Pump limitations?

I am building my fuel system for my 408. It is a stout build: aluminum CNC220 heads, forged bottom end, @50 .251 in and .259 ex with 608 and 625 lift solid flat cam. Worked Edelbrock Airgap intake and a Thumper Carb.

Question is, how much will a mechanical fuel pump support?

Thank you in advance!

You can run the engine off the mechanical pump IF you have a big enough pump, like the big Carter, or better yet a Clay Smith fuel pump AND you have the fuel line to support the power you are making.

You need a 1/2 inch pickup in the tank and 1/2 fuel line all the way to the regulator.

The Clay Smith pump is bad assed, but it comes with a bad assed price tag too. But it works.
