I'm not sure if anyone else has had this issue, but I'm wanting to reattach the vinyl top trim on the back of the car. I found the plastic slide clips on Ebay, but where the trim comes to a point, there needs to be a fastener bolting into the car. I cant find these anywhere. Does anyone know where I can find them? Or if there is something else I could use?
Any help is appreciated! Thank you!

I have seen vinyl top trim posted here recently- search.
I've got the trim, it's the fasteners I cannot find to reattach it. :( And it seems nobody has then for sale. Mine were rusted in half, and basically crumbled when I took the nuts off them.

Start a wanted thread.

Clips can be a ***** (can I say that?). I have had to make my own or adapt a similar one to fit. Good luck.

Thank you! I was hoping I could use something from another application. But wasn't sure on fitment.
I appreciate all the help!

I can't tell you the exact size I used, but I just took a piece of the trim in question to Ace Hardware with me and found the perfect little flat head stainless machine screws to slide right in there.
I wasn't sure about it spinning when I lightly tightened them down, but they didn't since the screws/threads were new.

You can also get screws just a bit larger and grind a flat on each side of the heads so they don't turn when tightening.
Don't forget to put sealer on them or they can leak water into the trunk.:D

Like this but smaller.

That is certainly the cheapest option! I'm a poor boy, so I might go this route. You'll never see them after all. Thanks! :)

Is 73 scamp the same I might be able to help you I am not putting the vinyl top back on mine and I think all my clips to hold the molding down are good Just got to dig throug the boxes and see.

Yes they should be the same! I would really appreciate that!!
You need the back clips that bolt through the panel in front of the deck lid I'm guessing. How many do you need and I will see what I have.

This is what I found. Not in the best of shape but if you can use them I will give them to you. The chrome moldings are in nice shape and not ready to part with them I know the screws you need so will try to find them and you can have the screws as well.

Well, thanks to Fred I was able to order the correct fasteners and clips by using his for reference to make sure the new ones would fit. What an awesome dude! Thanks again Fred!

Any time my friend glad you got new clips.

I ended up ditching the plastic clips and using all spring type like the 71 back used. I bought the plastic clips from a couple places and all were just barely too big to snap on the trim.
Have you tried yours yet to make sure they fit the trim?

I tried after seeing this last night, and yep didn't fit. But a little box knife and a steady hand and it fits fine now! Its wings on the sides are just shaped wrong for the trim, the new box blade made quick work of the problem! But with 10 to do, might take me a bit.......

I like the old bolt in retainers, no chance of the trim popping off with them.
