anyone put a dead pedal in their car?

A dead pedal. A foot rest.

Convert a manual trans car to a automatic.

My 1970 Porsche 914 (mid-engine) two-seater had a separate foot rest (see foto) for the fixed passenger seat (the passenger seat did not move forward or backward. It was loose, so you could store it in the trunk or use it several different ways by flipping it over.

My parent's new 1968 Cadillac Fleetwood Brougham had some flip down foot rests for the back seat passengers (see foto). The back seat was so roomy, we travelled with my Bonanza mini-bike on the floor of the back seat, along with parents and three of us kids.

Started to. Just few bends in a piece of sheet. Need to box it and haven't figured out how best to locate it and or relocate the dimmer switch.

i'm thinking of putting the dimmer on the rest, but i'll need to mock it up and try it first.

Ya, wtf is a dead pedal?
I never, ever, heard of anything in my lifetime, called that.
This some geographic term that's only ever used in certain parts of the country? and then the rest of us haven't a clue?
Why did it get a name like that? whatever it is?

Seriously? I've heard it all my life.

A dead pedal is pretty popular in some race cars because of how the floors are made. I've seen them a good bit.

i'm thinking this thread is turning in to a way to pick out the drag racers from the road racers :steering:
