I just saw Duke in this picture we just lost duke about 2 yrs back. I actually cried like I lost a family member. He was a huge gentle giant. He was a Boxadore. I loved that dog . At the end I would lift him in my truck he loved going for rides to the ice cream stand. I would get him a large twist and hold it for him. He would lick it like a person and then gently eat the cone. I got him from a kill shelter in Ohio when he was 8 months old.

GSS sold it to a friend he left his 17 yr old son drive it. he was killed and passenger Paralyzed. They had a trans guy install a shift kit and the trans locked up shifting to drive. The reason we know this is we installed a tail shaft on the trans and installed it in a 340 Challenger . It did the same thing.

Great pictures.....neat that you took the time to take all those photos before the age of cell phones!

There are some hot rod pickups pictures I have. We also built a 55MPH lawn tractor You could fly down the street . Drive into a yard and give and image of you cutting the grass when the Police go by.

I thought I would start my own thread of some pictures I am scanning in from the photo box of cars and shop from my past . Some of you may own some of these cars. they will be added as I scan them this will take weeks when I get time.

I will ad captions on request if they are asked for. some I will add as I post them. Please refrain from adding your own pictures unless they are of cars that I post that you now own. If you have a question on a car I post ask.

This body was sold to someone and I have seen it on this site The car was originally a 70 4 spd vitamine C car . The big holes next toi the bumper were torm out by a cable. There is a story behind those tears that is the reason I ended up with the car.

Oldmanmopar,
First of all sorry for what happened to your Dad and others...may they Rest In Peace. A BIG Thank you for all the photos showing your rich and long connection with all things MOPAR. From a cool perspective I really wish I could have lived in your neighborhood growing up so I could have seen all the cool MOPARS and the daily goings on in the garage. You and your family represent the epitome of LOVE for Ma Mopar...keep it going and thank for your dedication.
Take care,
Greg

we used a woods mower deck 2-1 right angle gear box to mount the driven clutch from the motor then a sprocket to the ATV rear sprocket. We made the axle bearing pads adjustable for the chain the gear box was also adjustable to align transmission belt. Steering and front axle were also one of and made here.. Now you all have to take into consideration is this is all being done in our 3 car garage behind our house.

We built it for a local tractor race coming up. He won by 5 laps and watched the rest of the race with us from the side line.

The dual exhaust came out the sides of the fake mower deck. You can see the pipes if you look for them. It sounded just like my Harley with straight pipes. It had a modified 25 HP Koehler pro

Wait until you all see the newly built Duster . The original one was built a long time ago. The new Duster will be a chassis car built into the unibody to give the appearance of a unibody car. Very light weight this time. My son said low 9's I said break into 8's on motor alone. It will cert. 7.50 in case of added boost

I had at least 100 B's and 20 E's many brand X's . The pictures will be loaded as I get time. it takes time to scan them all in and they are random. I only have pictures from early 80's on and I don't have of all my cars . When I met my wife is when the pictures start. Any questions on any cars you may recognize just ask. I sold many. My Road runner was at Carlisle. It was a Auto changed to 4 speed. Who ever bought it swapped the VIN Tag and said it was a race car was from out west . It was a race car from PA. I Know what work I did and were the Damage was. I told him of tail light section damage you can only see from the trunk and it was there. I didn't want to upset him ao I did not mention the VIN swap . But I checked it.

Lots and Lots of Dusters, Mopars, Mopars, Mopars.

Wow quite a history there, good time looking them all over. Sad about the crash cars and people that passed.

Thanks for uploading . . .

Nobody can say you're a poser, that's for sure! You've had a ton of them. Thanks Steve for sharing all this. I know it's probably been emotional going through all these pictures.

There are some pictures that bring tears that I didn't post. We all like to forget the sad things in life. Sometimes pictures bring us back to reality. Our past has more influence than we could imagine with our future. I lost many friends in these old muscle cars. One accident 4 at one time . I remember this GTX accident like yesterday pictured below. My wife and I recently went to the tree. It is at least 100 feet off the road at the bend by the golf coarse.

The four friend I lost> I sold a 389 tri-power 4 spd to a freind he put it in a orange Ventura Sprint. He hit a concrete bridge side ways at over 100 mph Another friend and his pregnant wife were drug down the street under the back half of the car for at least 300 feet. The driver ended up in the creek with the front end . The passenger who was on crutches from a previous accident in a Firebird . He was decapitated his body was stuck to the bridge with the floor and the seats. His head was on the other side of the bridge down the road.

I had tow truck so I saw some pretty gruesome wrecks. The worst was I had to pull a Chevy off of a concrete wall that it was wrapped around. with the guy still in the cab . They needed to get to him. I can still hear him screaming. He died scream for his mom and Dad. I have a kind heart for rescue workers today. Years back they didn't have the Jaws of life at all fire rescue squads. There were times they had to wait for the tow truck. Twin booms and out riggers were a plus when there was nothing to tie down to near by.

A challenger with a 4 yr. old girl inside. a Aspen R/T that was stuck in the side of a truck with the driver molded in to the grille dead. A blue 68 charger I sold hit a concrete wall head on. The young kid in the back seat . His legs were stuck under the bucket seat up to his knees bent the opposite way. I never thought that would be possible. Yeah I have those pictures of many of those cars. They bring back memories I would like to forget. If it weren't for the frame ties and cage in the Duster I would have probably lost my son from the car being ripped in half .
When I get some time I will load a lot more pictures to this thread. But not all of the wrecks due to respect.

You could not get all the carnage out of some cars . We would put them on top of other cars at Hirschmans yard so the stink would blow away. Tony Hirschman would pick them up. His son is a spotter for Kyle Busch now.

If you look close at the picture The man with the fedora hat is holding up the head of the survivor. he was hanging out of the the quarter window. The car was new it had slicks and headers on it. If that would have been a post car he wouldn't have made it.

Question though, back in the day in the 60s and early 70s, didnt a lot of young guys coming back from Vietnam buy these things new and kinda drive em like effin nuts a lot of times wrecking them and causing the insurance companies to notice and start severely jacking the rates up on em based on drivers age and cubic inches? And I am saying this without any disrespect to any of these people that you mentioned who died in these things.

I mean as built new in the 60s and early 70s, we know by todays standards these cars weren't real safe. I mean they have early unibody construction, skinny assed bias ply tires, woefully inadequate drum brakes and suspensions, along with overly large engines. I mean, was this the norm back then that everybody young had one of these that the drove em like an effin animal? I think a lot of young men came back from Vietnam after being shot at and not dying, and maybe thought they were invincible.

I think at least now a days, with what people are doing by beefing up the frames, subframe connectors, bigger sway bars, bigger brakes, better tires, better or improved suspensions, to go along with the engines in them that we are making them much safer to drive fast from a braking and handling standpoint than they were back then. I know if you hit something at speed with anything new or old its gonna wad it up like a piece of paper. However, I think all people cared about back then was going fast in a straight line, and if you had to turn or stop you were **** outta luck. Sucky brakes, sucky suspensions, and they would easily over drive or exceed the limits of the suspension and braking systems at any speed over 75 mph.

I know back then dodge put stuff in their advertising for these cars that was probably some lawyer speak to distance themselves from this issue that was happening on the streets at the time. I have dealer posters with some subliminal messaging in the bottom on the posters. A 68 super bee dealer poster and on the bottom it says (drive safely speed contests belong at the strip) , a 68 dodge charger R/T advert that says on the bottom (drive safely, its contageous) and another 69 super bee poster that says on the bottom (safety is no accident, drive with care).

Man that was a bad one and you knew them all? We've had one or two like that around here way back when but none that got that many in one place. That was rough.

This is a great thread... and that puts me in a reflective mood.

30 years ago I survived with a lot of luck a serious - and very 'classic' - muscle car accident (the car rolled over three times...) nearly unhurt....
