Is it a good conversation solution??

So I mentioned to a friend that I want to convert my dart from power steering to manual steering.

He goes to his toolbox and takes something from the top tray and hands it to me and says "you can try this, I had bought it for a duster, then sold the car."

I have never used one before or known anyone who used one.

Is this a good part to use permanently??
