So I mentioned to a friend that I want to convert my dart from power steering to manual steering.

He goes to his toolbox and takes something from the top tray and hands it to me and says "you can try this, I had bought it for a duster, then sold the car."

I have never used one before or known anyone who used one.

Is this a good part to use permanently??

Yep, works great. they are 118 bucks new off of ebay.

The power box is 'taller' so you need to extend your manual boxes 'shorter' input shaft with this piece to reach your shorter P/S steering column. Thank him profusely.

Those are great, then you don't have to swap out your steering column to go to manual steer. They have that aftermarket Spring Clip for holding the top of the steering couple box on if you have had that apart . . the end of trying to fight that steering coupler when you want to service it . . locks the roll pin in too at the same time.

Used them many times. Not too keen on the price of them But ya gotta do what ya gotta do.Never a problem.

Yes, those are nice. You know what else? You're very smart to ask.

Just an FYI, in the future, there’s no need to use one of those. The inner shaft is a two piece shaft that slides into itself, the manual and power steering columns use the exact same inner shafts, they're just “collapsed” to different lengths. The two inner shafts are simply held at their current length with a few dabs of melted plastic. If swapping from manual to power, just knock shaft farther into itself. And when going from power to manual, knock the shaft out farther. Easy and free to do.

I need one of those! Does your friend have another one lol? They have them on Ebay but they ain't cheap.
