Hello,

I am trying to find an engine paint for my slant six. I am used to VHT, but it seems they have no reddish Chrysler paints anymore in their selection. Then I am not sure what color it is, if Chrysler had more than one red sort of paint.

I see Rustoleum has engine paints, and others too, but I guess it all ends with that I don't know what the paint color is called.

The Dealership usually sells Mopar enamel rattle cans. Or buy online. Holds up well
 
Look at the difference between Chrysler industrial red which the valve cover is painted. Compared to the intake manifold.

I use the Mopar enamel paint. It's been 2 years and it still looks like new

The intake manifold and part of the head looks like they are a bit "bleached", and it is not at all like the remains of the paint on my valve cover.

In my search I came across this list. If it is accurate or not, well I am not the right one to judge that. Mopar engine colors 1960 - 1973

How about the exhaust manifold, where they black ? I have been thinking about using that wood stove black like grease you apply, and then fire it up and let it smoke until it is sort of "cured".

The dipstick on my leaning tower of power is painted medium to dark blue, on a red engine. Is that right ? On my way to home depot for some engine paint now. The engine can't look like this.

This is the best paint I've been able to find. Color is dead on:
