I agree the steel mold STEVENS look better than the sand cast Edels, they have always been a little rough (look at any air-gap port divider, then look at a steel mold Cross-wind). Ever seen an 80's Ferrari close up? The tube frames that the motor sits in (eg. F40) has welds that look like they are stick welded then painted over. Pretty rough looking stuff. I'm sure todays are a far cry better than the 80's. And Lord know that the old Fiats were downright awful. Every owner became a mechanic out of necessity. They were kicked out of US market for crap cars after the Strada.
