Turning back the clock

-
I'm sure they could have made space, but to get Butch to come takes covering his expenses and appearance $$$....I was likely too late to ask and Butch was just not in t budget for this year. I understand their side......and there is always next year.

hopefully gonna be a dandy, I'm working on a lifesize backdrop of the CarCraft / Direct Connection Catalog covers.....and how about this?.... you could have YOUR picture taken with that cover shot(s) backdrop featuring with the actual 1975 Flash HemiDuster, the real California Flash (Butch) and YOU are the guy behind the counter.

Hows that for a free rev? !!!!....WHOMMMPAAAA!!!!!
This is a great idea! Genius!

Back from our cruise to Good Guys in the silver Hemi Duster, time to fire up the Flash....just add water (and a little ant-freeze, it gets cold here in the winter.). Not sure how long that motor will stay in the car......last week, I talked Butch into building a (as raced) 396 cu in (4.25 bore x 3.5 stroke) Hemi for the Flash.

Just a great idea. I bet Butch was excited when you asked. I fill him up with vodka at the Nats a steal a few engine building ideas!

good luck.....I asked him what kind of compression he was planning on putting in it? Butch replied with a snicker........"You let me worry about that"

All of yall suck dammit all. Yall are gettin to do all the fun stuff. lol

w/ cup holders !!!!....outstanding!

I noticed ya kinda took a shine to the porno red didn't ya?

your welcome, always glad to help. Thank Todd for the porno red tag.

well.....The Flash lives with a dual plug Hemi again. All good with a couple small things to fix / repair / replace. Might need a new water temp gauge, the original with new sensor doesn't register anything and the oil pressure fitting on the block has a small leak......not bad when you consider who (me) assembled it (all but the long block)

The twin MSD 6AL-A2's gave John and I fits for almost a whole day.....but it was a simple lack of mention in the installation instructions that the (ignition) switched 12V circuit needs to provide 12V at all times, including when the starter is en-gauged. Problem is, as I learned, all the circuits in the factory harness shut off when the starter is en-gauged. All the independent component tests gave me spark, just not when I hit the starter. Two calls to MSD tech, a simple test, and I was straightened out.

With spark, it fired right up, We warmed it up and set the timing but could not get it to idle at less than approx 2000 RPM....Steve Atwell built the motor, including running it on the dyno to break in the cam and check the vitals before handing it off to us. He said when it was time to fire it up in the car, he would come down for final dial in. I called him yesterday at 4 and he was at my shop at 10 this morning. After re-checking float levels, etc and a fire up, Steve determined he would have to take the 1050's back to Michigan for idle circuit surgery. He will have them back by this coming weekend.

then ready for the Nats..........RUNNING!

Several of us suffered somewhat minor damage at this years Nats when the HDK 40' x 160' tent blew away in the "pop-up" thunderstorm as we were setting up around 4 pm on Thursday.

On the Flash....only a small dent in the hood and a crack on the rear of the scoop.....no biggie considering the 85 MPH winds. Good thing I have zero deductible with Hagerty.

getting fixed ASAP.

I didn't make it to The Nats this year, but you were the first person I thought about when I heard about the wind storm. I hoped your tent survived, but I guess not. :( Hang in there...you'll get it fixed!

During The Nats, I became aware of an additional Hemi available with Butch's 1982 Plymouth Horizon Po Stocker that was being offered for sale as a package.

Butch knew of the Rod Shop Hemi and explained it would be a perfect (period correct) fit for The Flash. The race Hemi has all the good stuff in it from the mid 70s right down to the rare Kramer lightened block, big roller cam, Mullin dual plug aluminum heads, aluminum rods, modified magnesium tunnel ram and Donovan gear drive.

Once the deal was made by a friend of mine to buy the package, he sold me the race Hemi.

Although the Hemi appears fresh, in a few weeks Butch is flying to Detroit where he (with me getting to watch, cheaper than me helping) will dis-assemble, inspect, and re-assemble it for a fresh run it before I install it in The Flash.

I guess I will have to find a new home for the "car show" Hemi. Hmmmmmm?

Wonder where that will end up???????

Brother Weeb has offered the use of his 67 Dart GTS, a.k.a. the HDK mule, which is a great idea....if I can get him to make it (cough / cough) drive-able and up to my "standards".
Wonder where that will end up???????

ain't a pimple on it.....that I could find, and I looked. I really like your rear wheels wells. enlarged, but tastefully done....beautiful!
