Products like cosmoline is what they use for tool bits etc.
Somewhat similar are the thicker waxy products such as Waxoyl, and LPS 3 (available in spray cans).
I've just started using Boeshield T9 where I want nearly invisible slick corrosion preventive such as bicycle chain and table and band saw, lathe ways, etc. Seems pretty good.
